Description

"Female quick-coupling fitting for flexible hoses".
*RRRR The present invention relates to a female quickcoupling fitting for flexible hoses.
Known types of female fittings of this kind are used essentially for the quick connection of sections of flexible hoses for irrigation purposes in the field of gardening.
A fitting of the type described in the Italian patent No.
1132044 in the name of the same Applicant comprises a main casing traversed by an axial hole and carrying at one end a threaded ring nut for fastening to the end of a flexible hose and at the other end a sliding sleeve for the operation of suitable means for coupling to a male fitting which may be introduced into said axial hole.
Normally both the main casing and the ring nut as well as the sleeve are accomplished in plastic material, say ABS. This occasionally involves some drawbacks especially in relation to the possibility of grasping and operating the sleeve and to the potential damage following any impact to which the free end of the sleeve is subjected, especially when the fitting itself is fastened to a flexible hose and not to the male element.
In additon the accomplishment of the fitting in a single material offers limited possibilities regarding the creation of special aesthetic effects, say under the form of combinations of colors.
The object of the present invention is to solve the problems mentioned above of grasping and impact of the sleeve and possibly to offer the chance of accomplishing aesthetic effects which have so far proved impossible.
According to the invention such object is attained with a female quick-coupling fitting for flexible hoses comprising a rigid casing traversed by an axial hole and carrying at one end a threaded ring nut for fastening to the end of a flexible hose and at the other end a sliding sleeve for the operation of suitable means for coupling to a male fitting which may be introduced into the above axial hole, characterized in that said sleeve consists of a rigid part on which there is wound an annular band of soft material.
To advantage, said annular band is accomplished in a rubbery material and has a rough external finish.
The features of the present invention shall be made more evident by the following detailed description of an embodiment, illustrated as a non-limiting example in the enclosed drawing wherein the only figure shows an example of a fitting according to the invention in a partially-sectioned lateral view.
With reference to the drawing the female fitting comprises a rigid casing 1 traversed by an axial hole 2 and carrying at one end a threaded ring nut 3 for fastening the end of a flexible hose and at the other end a sliding sleeve 4 for the operation of suitable means not shown for coupling to a male fitting which may be introduced into said axial hole (2). Said sliding sleeve 4 consists of a rigid part 5 on which there is wound an annular band 6 having a rough finish, say accomplished in a diamond tip pattern at one end of said sleeve 4, intermediate between the two ends of the sleeve there is applied a small chromium plated band 7.

Claims (5)

1. Female quick-coupling fitting for flexible hoses, comprising a rigid casing traversed by an axial hole and carrying at one end a threaded ring nut . for fastening to the end of a flexible hose and at the other end a sliding sleeve for the operation of suitable means for coupling to a male fitting which may be introduced into the above axial hole , characterized in that said sleeve consists of a rigid part on which there is wound an annular band of soft material.
2. Female fitting according to claim 1, characterized in that said annular band is preferably accomplished in a rubbery material.
3. Female fitting according to claim 2, characterized in that said band has a rough finish.
4. Female fitting according to claim 1, characterized in that a small chromium plated band is applied at one internal end of said sleeve , intermediate between said ends of the rigid casing of the fitting.
5. A hose fitting, substantially as described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
