Abstract
The handle set comprises a bearing (box) 4 which is attachable to the frame of the window or door wing and screwable to the housing 3 of the espagnolette. A square mandrel 5 is supported in bearing 4 and is rotatable about an axis 11. The longitudinal centre-line 13 of a handle 6 attached to mandrel 5 in closed position aligns with the longitudinal centre-line 12 of the bearing 4 and the handle and bearing box 4 are formed symmetrically with respect to the respective longitudinal centre- line 13 or 12. In the bearing box 4 screw holes 7, 8 for fastening screws, are positioned equal distance from axis 11, the axes 9, 10 of the holes aligning with axis 11 but the plane of the three axes 9, 10, 11 being misaligned parallel from the longitudinal symmetric axis of the bearing box 4 and the handle 6 towards the rebate side by side to 12%, preferably 10% of the width of the bearing 4. Thus, as shown the handle set does not hit against frame when sash (1, Figure 1) is opened. <IMAGE>
Description
Handle set for window and door wings with esDagnolette
The Dresent invention relates to a handle set for window and door wings with an esDagnolette. i.e., a movement transmitting mechanism Positioned in the edge of the frame, consisting of a bearing box attachable to the frame of the window or door w;;ng and screwable to the espagnolette, and a square mandrel which is rotatable about an axis and suDDorted within said bearing and and has attached to one end a handle, the longitudinal axis of said handle in closed oosition aligns with the longitudinal centre-line of the bearing, the handle - Just as the bearing - is formed symmetrically to the resDective longitudinal centre-line, and the bearing body exhibits screw holes for the fastening screws, which holes are positioned eaually distant from the rotational axis. the axes of which aligning with the axis of the scuare mandrel.
handle sets of tnis kind are Known. The Dealings or rosettes. respectively. of these handle sets are adaoted with rescect to their width and arrangement of the square-and fastening holes to the housing of the esoagnolette. Depending on the distance cf tne axis of the square mandrel from the edge of the window wing, there are differently wide bearings, or so-called rosettes, available. If this space is small, the corre soonding bearing - as a matter of fact - necessarily is small, too, since, otherwise, the bearing or the handle set would collide with the frame of the window, when the window is obened outward.
It is the obJect of tne cresent invention to provide a handle set which. desite a wader bearing box and a corresDondingly wide contact surface. and despite a symmetric arrangement of the nandle in closed position to the bearing, can be attached even to those door and window wings in which the distance of tne square mandrel axis from the edge of tne door or window wing is smaller than the width of the bearing box.
According to the present invention this object is achieved in that the plane of the rotational axis and of the both axes of the screw holes is staggered parallel from the longitudinal and rotational axis of the bearing and the handle towards the rebate side by ap- proximately 10% of the width of the bearing box.Due to this asymmetric arrangement of the rotational axis of the sauare mandrel and the axes of potn screw holes, the handle set can be attachec even to those window or door wings n which tne distance between the rotational ax7s of tne scuare mancre and the edge of tne window or door frame is extremely sma If, for example, tne wict of tne rosette or bearing box. respectlvely. is nE mm. the rotational axis and the axes of tne screw holes can be disolaced by approximately 1.6 mm towards the rebate side.Since the bearing is formec symmetrically to tne transverse axis, the bearing box mav be used for botn types of casements, those haing a rignt hand, and those having a left hand rebate side. However, tne square mandrel of the corresponding handle has to be displaced accordingly, i.e., either to the left or to the right side, depending on wether the handle is designed for casements striking to the left or to tne right sice.
The screw holes are covered b covering caps in order to hide their asymmetric arrangement.
Examoles of embodiments of the Present invention are illustrated more aetailed in tne following description with reference to tne accompanying drawings, in which
Figure 1 shows a top view on a nandle set fas
tened to the frame of a casement
Figure 2 shows a frontal view on the handle of
Figure 1 with the caps removed,
Figure 3 shows the view on the backside of
a handle,
Figure 4 shows a side view and
Figure 5 shows a top view cn a handle set with
the handle being in closea position for
a window frame with a regnt hand relate side
Figure 6 shows a top view on the handle set ac
cording to Figure 6 witn tne handle
turned into the open position.
As is shown in Figure 1, a rankle set is attached to a window wing 1 with espagnolette 2. The handle set con- sists of a bearing box 4 whion is screwable to the housing 3 of the espagnolette 2 by means of fastening screws (not shown) and tne sauare mancrel 5 of which engages in the housing 3 of the espagnolette 2. The square mandrel 5 is suooorted in the bearing 4 rotatably about the axis 11. The handle 6 is fastened to one end of the square mandrel 5.
As is particularly shown in Figure 2. the outer dimension the bearing 4 is formed symmetrically with resoect to its longitudinal centre-line 12. The handle 6, too, is formea symmetrically with resoect to its longitudinal centre-line 13. If the handle 6 is in a vertical closed Dosition. the axes 12 and 13 are in alignment. The bearing box 4 is provided with screw holes 7 and 8 for the fastening screws, which holes are position in equal distance from the rotational axis 11. The axes 9 and 10 of these screw holes 7 and 8 align with the axis 11 of the square mandrel 5. As can particularly be seen in Figure 2, the olane of the two axes 9 and 10 of the fastening holes and the axis 11 of the square mandrel 5 is slightly staggered to the left towards the rebate side of the casement sash 1.This misalignment 15. which corresoonds to 8 to 12. preferably 10% of the width of the bearing body 4, effects that the handle set does not hit against the window frame when the casement sash 1 is oDened.
As is shown in Figure 3, the square mandrel 5. too, within tne nandle 6 is aisolaced by the misalignment 13 towards the longitudinal centre-line 13 of the handle 6. If the handle 6 is in closed Position, the misalignment 15, in case of a casement sash 1 with a left hand rebate side, is placed towards the said striking side. In case of a window with a right hand rebate side. the bearing box 4 can be turned by 1800 (cf. Figure 6). However. in the corresoonding handle 6 the accomodation for the square mandrel has to be staggered by a corresoonding dimension to the right side, as this is shown in Figure 5.
The bearing box 4 or the rosette, respectively, for example, consists of zinc die-casting and exhibits on the upDer side DroJecting frame-like edges in which two covering caos 18 and 18' can be inserted.
These caos 18 and 18' cover the asymmetrically arranged screw holes 7 and 8 and the recesses 16 and 17 which recieve the screw heads of the fastening screws.
