Abstract
A rotary server, eg a device for distributing comestibles or other material or goods, has a large top serving area which, adjusting the arms 12, can be used for another purpose when not required as a server. The top area is changed by moving the non-fixed arms 12 into a new upright position, the action of resetting the position of the outer arms 12 into the upright position changes the top assembly 11 and arms 12 into a container and display unit. The device has a base 15 and rotates on ball bearings 14. <IMAGE>
Description
A Convertable Rotary Server
This invention relates to a rotary server, used for domestic or other purposes.
The rotary server can be used on a table and is a device to assist the distribution of comestibles or other items,to the participants at a function arround a table,it consists of a fixed section that rests upon the table or suitable stand, and a movable section that rotates ,upon which the items for distribution or containers with such items are placed.
A rotary server system is redundant if it has no further roll in the current activities, it can then becomes an encumbrance when constructed in the conventional manner using fixed assemblies
According to the present invention there is provided a means of transforming the server using a non fixed assembly to convert it to a passive storage and or decorative item at the end of its active roll as a serving unit.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 Shows in section the relationship of the component parts of the convertable server unit.
Figure 2 Shows a plan view of the top working or serving area.
Figure 3 Shows in section the movement of the arms to convert the server and change the usage.
Figure 4 Illustrates the relative form when the arms are repositioned with respect to the section shown in
Figure 1.
Refering to figure 1 the sectional drawing the convertable rotary server comprises a top centre assembly 11 arms 12 fashioned to extend the centre assembly and secured to the centre assembly by means of a piviot 13 (not illustrated) a bearing section 14 and a base assembly 15.
A plan view figure 2 illustrates the typical working or serving surface when in the serving or displaying position.
In order to convert the use of the rotary server the arms 12 are moved up or down as illustrated in Figure 3.
The arms in the up position are illustrated in figure 4 in this position the use is changed from that illustrated in figure 2 and can be for storage or in an ornamental roll.
