Abstract
A self illuminated animal collar fastened by a buckle 6, which has a series of light emitting diodes 1, protruding from it, which are powered by a battery 7. When the light emitting diodes 1 are energised by means of the switch 3, the light output is enhanced by use of reflective strip 2. <IMAGE>
Description
Self Illuminated Animal Collar
This invention reiates to a self illuminated animal safety collar The device is designed to increase the visibility of an animal for example, a dog, in poor light or dark conditions
The primary advantage of this added visibility would be that motorists would be aware of the animal sooner if it strayed onto the road and therefore an accident would become less likely. The secondary advantage is that the animals whereabouts would be more easily identified by the owner or handler which could be especially useful to services which use animals for security purposes such as the Rrmy or Police Force.
according to the present invention there is a self illuminated collar comprising a nylon collar fastened by a buckle with a strip of flourescent reflective plastic sewn onto the outer side This has holes punched through to +acilitate.+ixing of the light emitting diodes. A battery compartment, an electrical circuit consisting of series connected light emitting diodes, e switch and a battery and battery connector.
A specifie embodiment of the invention will now be described by wey 0+ example with reference to the accompanaying drawing in which Figure 1 shows the collar in plan view.
Figure 2 shows the collar in profile.
Figure 3 shows a schematic of the electrical circuit.
Reffering to the drawing, the collar comprises a nylon strap 8 threaded through a fastening buckle 6 and folded back onto itself to form a covering for the wiring, the electrical circuit of which is shown in Figure 3.
Holes are punched into the collar to facilitate the fitting of the light emitting diodes t and the switch 7.. R strip of reflective plastic 2 is punched in the same manner as the nylon strap and fitted over the light emitting diodes and switch.
The battery compartment consists of a length of elasticated tube containing the battery 7, which is held in place by another length of nylon strap fastened with a Velcro pad 5.
Claims (1)
