Description

i 1 GRIPPER RAIL DRIVE FOR PROGRESSIVE PRESSES The invention relates to a
drive for the transporting and reversing movement of gripper rails having biaxial or triaxial transporting directions in progressive presses.
In known drives of gripper rails (construction of the Applicant), an entraining cross arm mounted in guides is provided for driving the transporting and reversing movement. Mounted in this entraining cross arm are two carriages displaceable transversely to the direction of transport, which have perpendicular guide pins in which the gripper rails are mounted such that their height can be adjusted.
The carriages having the perpendicular guide pins are entrained by the gripper rails during the closing and opening movement.
Since relatively large accelerations occur during the closing and opening movement, the mass of these carriages has a disadvantageous ef f ect on the f lexional behaviour of the gripper rails. Moreover, anti-friction slideways without play must be present in order that the gripper rails run without oscillation.
The present invention proposes to provide a simplification here., to which purpose, using a drive of the construction described at the outset,, it is proposed that secured to the two driving levers is a cross arm on the underside whereof are arranged two carriages guided in guides and adjustable by means of threaded spindles and drives, slide rods mounted in ball-andsocket joints engaging in the ends of these carriages and being connected at their other ends similarly by ball-and-socket joints to the gripper rails.
With the construction of the drive in accordance with the present invention, the entraining cross arm is not mounted in longitudinal guides but secured to the two driving levers. Two carriages are mounted in this entraining cross arm and are adjustable by means of ele'ctric drives and spindles in the opening and closing direction of the gripper rails.
The gripper rails are connected to the carriages by slide rods mounted in balland-socket joints. During the closing and 2 opening movement and raising and lowering movement, the slide rods perform a pendulum movement. In order that this pendulum movement remains symmetrical when the gripper rail width is adjusted, the carriages are adjusted in the entraining cross arm by the same amount, by the electric drives.
The invention is explained in more detail with reference to a drawing which illustrates an exemplary embodiment which has been chosen at random and in which:
Fig. 1 shows a section along the line A-B of Fig. 3, Fig. 2 shows a view in the direction E of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 shows a section along the line C-D of Fig. 1.
Fig. 1 shows a section through the left-hand side of a progressive press having the press platen 1, the sliding table 2, the press ram 3, the lefthand press support frame 4 and the closing case 5 with the gripper rail guide 6.
Mounted in the gripper rail guide 6 and 6a (Fig. 2), which performs both a closing and opening movement and a raising and lowering movement, are the gripper rails 7 and 7a which are displaceable by the guide strips 8 and 8a in and in opposition to the direction of transport.
Secured to the left-hand press support frame 4 are two gear housings 9 and 9a in which the driving levers 10 and 19a are rotatably mounted.
The pivotal movement of the two driving levers 10 and 10a is generated, via rollers llf from the complementary cams 12.
Secured at the end of the driving levers 10 and 10a is a cross arm 13 in which two carriages 15 and 15a are mounted so as to be displaceable in guides 14 and 14a in the opening and closing direction of movement of the gripper rail.
The transverse displacement of the carriages 15 and 15a is carried out via threaded spindles 16 and 16a by drives, such as electric motors 17 and 17a. The gripper rails 7 and 7a are connected to the carriages 15 and 15a by slide rods 19 and 19a mounted in ball-and-socket j6ints 18, 18a, 18b and 18c.
Figures 2 and 3 show various positions and gripper rails, thus for example in the position opened to the maximum 7 and 7a, in the position closed to the maximum 7b and 7c, in the position lk -1 3 opened to the minimum 7d and 7e, in the position closed to the minimum 7f and 7g and in the raised position 7h and 7i.
The sheet bars 20 are advancedi for example, by a magnetic conveyor belt 21 for delivery to the gripper rails.
