Description
1 Process and arrangement for determining the optimum screw equipment for
the production Of edible oil by means of strainer screw presses 'and for monitoring the local oil yield'
Field of use of the invention
The invention relates to a process and an arrangement for determining the optimum screw equipment for the production fcredible oil by mans of strainer screw presses and for monitoring the local oil yield.
The invention is accordingly to be used by mechanical engineers and the edible oil industry in equipping and designing strainer screw presses. Characteristics of the known state of the art Processes and apparatuses for the production of oil from oil- bearing material such as for example rape, sunflower seeds and copra are known. In that connection, the oil-bearing material is generally subjected to a preliminary crushing operation, flocked and then subjected to a hydrothermal treatment in conditioner apparatuses. The material is then usually subjected to pressing in screw presses, in which operation the major part of the oil or fat is to be pressed out as carefully as possible. (German laidopen application (DE-OS) No 19 27 705).
Also known are processes which generally forego processing of the material prior to the pressing operation. In that procedure the uncrushed material is passed directly to the screw press after the cleaning operation (German patent specifications DE-PS 23 35 385 and 29 15 538). All those processes involve using a screw press in which a screw shaft is disposed in a sieve or filter chamber which is generally formed by strainer bars. The pressure acting on the material to be pressed is produced, as a result of a continuous or abrupt reduction in the volume formed between the screw flight, the screw core and the strainer basket, by virtue of a partiqular configuration of the screw shaft. That is effected in known manner in that either 1 1 1 2 the diameter of the core of the screw shaft or the pitch angle of the screw flight or both are altered in a stepwise manner along the screw shaft (German laid-open application (DE-OS) No 30 45 138). The degree of filling of the screw press and the pressure pattern which occurs over the length of the press are thus crucial criteria in regard to attaining a high yield and the through-put.
The use of individual screw segments which are assembled together to form an opt screw geamtry suited to the respective material to be pressed has proved successful in practice for a large number of situations of use. Mathematical methods have been developed for arriving at the appropriate design, such methods representing the empirical values of a large number of tests.
The results of the design are then checked by visually evaluating the oil discharge or by the press being switched off during the processing operation and by raw material samples being taken over the entire length of the screw and investigated in regard to their residual oil content and the degree of c=pressing thereof.
The process of visual examination is naturally very inaccurate and the procedures involving constantly taking samples and continuously subjecting' 'them to analytical investigation are very time- consuming.
Aim of the invention An aim of the invention is to increase the oil yield and the press through-put for different materials to be pressed and different strainer screw presses.
Summary of the Invention
The invention is based on the problem of providing a process and an arrangement for determining the optimum screw equipment for the production of edible oil by means of strainer screw presses ard for monitoring the local oil yield.
The process according to the invention is characterised in that 1 1 3 the partial radial pressure of the material being pressed against the strainer bars is measured in the various strainer areas and displayed in the form of a two-dimensional curve in a pressure- strainer basket length diagram on a display screen and ced to a predetermined, productlinked reference value curve which Is also displayed on the display screen. Deviations from the reference value range are signalled and the location of the deviation is indicated.
The arrangement according to the Invention is characterised In that at least one respective pressure senior with electronic evaluation mans is arranged in all strainer areas of a strainer screw press and is connected to a picture screen apparatus with which the measured pressure values are constantly represented in the form of a two-dimensional curve.
Specific embodiment The invention will be described in greater detail with reference to a specific embodiment. In the drawings:
Figure 1 shows both a diagrammatic vertical section of a screw press and a display screen; and Figure 2 is a graph showing the measured pressure pattern and the predetermined reference value range.
As shown in Figure 1, for all strainer areas 4, two pressure sensors with electronic evaluation means 1 are arranged in the strainer basket 2 of a strainer screw press 5 between each two mutually juxtaposed strainer bars in each strainer area 4. The measured partial radial pressures are displayed on the associated display screen apparatus 3 in the form of a curve having as x-coordinates radial pressure and as y-co-ordinates strainer basket length. The display apparatus also has in strip form a curve in respect of the reference values of the radial pressure. Under the condition that all other characteristic values of the strainer screw press 5 are kept constant, the radial pressure on the strainer bars is a suitable factor for providing information about the locally specific discharge of oil. Deviations from the reference value range are indicated by an 1 4 optical andlor acoustic signal. The precise location of the deviation can be established from the configuration of the curve and suitable measures such as re-equipping the arrangerrent or a conversion operation can be quickly and successfully carried out.
