Abstract

A baby support seat comprises a square of flame resistant foam from which a rounded sitting area has been removed leaving back and side supports, and can be used as a low seat, where the infant remains at floor level. The support seat can be secured to and placed on top of a second foam square to provide a higher seat. The three pieces of foam can be assembled into a mattress (Fig 4). The two squares of foam may be secured together by means of a flap of material extending from one square and fastened to the other square with press studs. <IMAGE>

Description

BABY SUPPORT SEAT AND MATTRESS.
This invention relates to a baby's first seat.
Baby seats are well-known items for the older toddler who is capable of sitting unaided.
For the younger child who has to rely on help to sit, there is no seat to provide soft, safe support from which the infant may learn its own sitting skills from an early age.
This invention provides a soft seat / mattress made from flame-resistant foam.
It comprises two identical squares of foam. From one of these squares a rounded sitting area is removed, leaving arm rests and a back area for backwards and sideways motion support.
With varied assemblies the invention forms a low support seat, a higher support seat and a mattress.
These assemblies will now be described by wag of example with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:- Fig.l shows one of the two identical squares of foam.
Fig.2 shows the second square of foam with the seat area removed.
Fig.3 illustrates the removed seat area from Fig.2.
ig.4 shows the three pieces of foaii used in conjunction to make a mattress.
Fig.5 shows the high support seat with Fig.l placed uuelerneath Fig.2, with ig.3 rened, Fig.6 shows how the two larger pieces of foam are secured together by means of a flap of material fastened by press studs.
A material covering is made to fit and cover all sieves of the individual pieces of fcam.
In order to secure them in the higher suprort seat position the two squares are held together by an extending flap of material from one square being fastened to the other snare with press studs. This is illustrated in Fig.6, where the shaded area of material frozen square 1 extends as a flap onto enuare 2 at points A, B, C and D. Finally, square 2 is flipped over to sit on top of scare 1 as showr. in Fig.5.
