Abstract
222,604. Baird, J. L., and Day, W. E. LJuly 26, 1923. Television apparatus.-Areas of the picture orscene to be transmitted are projected successively on a light-sensitive cell E, and the variations in. the current in the cell circuit due to the lights- and shades of the picture &c. are utilized to light at the receiving station a succession of lamps K arranged to form a screen, the differing intensities of illumination of the lamps constituting the picture to be viewed. An image C of the picture &c. A is projected by a lens B on a rotary disc D provided with a spiral series of equidistant holes M. Each hole in turn thus traverses a strip of the image and allows light corresponding to successive areas of the strip to fall on the cell E. At the receiving station, an arm G, moving synchronously with the disc D, moves over a series of contacts H to complete the circuits of the successive lamps.
