Hank type.-In apparatus for dyeing, washing and similarly treating yarn in hanks of the kind described in Specification 201,565 in which a concentric series of tanks or vats 1, Figs. 1 and 2. have intermittently rotating above them a concentric series of rollers 13, 21 on and between which the hanks are suspended, means are provided to adjust simultaneously and uniformly the pressure between the supporting rollers 21 and driving rollers 13. Intermittently-driven gearing 2 of the kind described in Specification 201,565 rotates bevel gearing 3, 4 to drive bevel gearing 7, 8, 9 which simultaneously rotates the spindles 10 on which are mounted rollers 13 carried by a frame which is intermittently driven by gearing 16. The hanks are carried by rollers 21 parallel with the rollers 13 and loosely mounted on spindles 61 carried by arms 22 fixed to sleeves which rotate on spindles also carried by the frame 12. Fixed to the sleeves are spur-wheels 4, 3 which engage toothed segments of cams each having a downwardly-extending part 41 which engages adjustably mounted cams 39, Figs. 1, 5 and 6, on the fixed frame of the apparatus, so that, in passing from one vat to the next, the arm 22 is raised to part the rollers 13, 21 and lift the hank as shown in Fig. 6, while in the intermediate position the roller 21 is brought against and driven by the roller 13. To press the rollers together to squeeze out liquid in the hank A a, double-armed lever 22, Figs. 1 and 3, is rotatably mounted on the shaft 61. One arm 25 projects downwards and the other rests on a slanting plane 38 of a double-armed lever 26, 27 rotatably mounted on a vertical shaft 28. As the frame 12 rotates the arms 25 engage cams 51, Fig. 3, and the lever rotates in the shaft 61 and the arm slides along the plane 38 rotating the lever 26, 27 against the action of a spring 31 interposed between a rod 29 and bars 30 which are bolted to a sleeve. A lever 35 attached to the sleeve 33 is bifurcated at its free end to embrace a nut mounted on a screwed spindle 37 operated by a hand wheel 36 by which the tension on the spring 31 is simultaneously adjusted.
