Abstract
A fluorescent line marker, suitable for use on a road or path, is prepared by applying a fluorescent substance to a precast standard thermoplastic marking composition. The composition may contain glass spheres and be self-adhesive to the road surface. <IMAGE>
Description
A FLUORESCENT LUMINATED PLASTIC GUIDE PATH
A method to make the present plastic used to make yellow or white lines luminous, by chemical mixing in a fluorescent substance, so that the plastic lines would absorb light and then reflect this light to give a luminous path.
The idea is to use plastic lines only, and to use the luminous plastics to replace the present cats eyes on the road ways.
It is claimed that the luminous plastic could be laid down much quicker, and it is also claimed that the luminous plastic could be laid down or taken up without damage to the road surface.
The luminous plastic could also be made in any other colour, denote safe or unsafe pathways. The most prominent colours would be; green = safe; red = unsafe; orange = caution.
Claims (7)
1 The guide lines will be comprised of fluourescent thermoplastic, epoxy paint, or rubberised paint.
2 The guide lines will be self adhesive to the road surface
or any other floor surface to which they are applied.
3 The said flourescent guide lines may or may not contain
glass microspheroids of less than 250 microns.
4 The guide lines will be able to be attached and detached
to the road or floor surface without damaging the said
surface, this will mean a considerable saving in labour.
5 The flourescent guide lines will not cause the bump bump
bump of the present cats eyes, and will make the motorist
journey much more comfortable.
6 Due to the much larger surface area of the flourescent
guide lines it is claimed there would be a much brighter
guide path than the present cats eyes give.
7 The durability of the guide lines is expected to have a
life greater than 10 years.
