Abstract

A survival bag is fitted with a breathing tube such that exhaled air is conducted out of the bag thus eliminating condensation from breath within the bag. The tube has a mouthpiece designed to stay in the mouth during sleep. Depending on circumstances the tube may pass through the mouth of the bag or a side of the bag at reinforcement 14. The tube may have a valve system 17 to allow air to be drawn from within the bag during inhalation. <IMAGE>

Description

SURVIVAL BAG @ITH BREATHING TUBE This invention relates to a survival bag used in conjunction with a breathing tube.
Survival bags are well known pieces of equipment particularly for providing shelter in harsh weather conditions. -They--ar - of two main types one of which is made of a substance which is impermeable to liquid water but which is permeable to air containing water vapour and thus can be completely closed around the person using it. Another typ - a substance which is impermeable to air usuall v t as polythene. ---'-- The former type of bag is relatively -expens latter type, though cheaper, can lead to large volumes condensation being produced on the inner surface by coolin breath which is uncomfortable and in cold conditions potentially hazardous to the user since it can give rise rapid heat loss.
According to the present inventio n there is proyi@ survival bag with a breathing tube which air out of the bag.
A specific embodiment of the invention w.
by way of example with reference to the acc in which: Figure 1 shows the survival bag with its mouth closed 8 around the end of the breathing tube; Figure 2 shows the breathing tube.
Referring to the drawing the bag is releasably closed around the tube by, for example, a draw-string or an elastic band or similar means (not shown).
To seal the user's nose , tape or a clip or something similar may be used.
In warmer conditions it may be advantageous to leave th of the bag open and to set the breathing tube in a hole a side of the bag where the bag is reinforced with, for example, adhesive tape or som - - imil -- The breathing tube is provided with flanges 12 which@fit between the user's cheeks and teeth to secure it in the mou even during sleep. The end of the tube 13 passesyover the top of the mouthpiece such that if the user's inclined to one side during sleep the tube willmotibe@ the head.
The tube may be fitted with a valve system 17. to @ellow@e to be drawn from inside the bag during inhalhal@t@@@@@@@@ particularly valuable where external air iscextr@@e@@@ co and - could damage the lungs.
Usually it may be advantageous to use gauze 16 to-keep foreign bodies such as, for example, insects from being sucked into the tube.
