Abstract

A device for collection of rubbish comprises a frame member, detachably connected to the neck region of a container for rubbish, such as a sack or plastic bag. The frame member is e.g. rectangular and holds the sack or bag open. A strip member is provided on the normally lower portion of the frame member and a hollow member securely connected to the normally top portion of the frame, the size of opening in such hollow member being selected so as to permit the end of a pole or like member to be located therein. <IMAGE>

Description

Improvements in or relating to removal of rubbish The present invention concerns improvements in or relating to removal of rubbish. The present invention is particularly concerned with the removal of rubbish from open areas such as parks, gardens and the like.
At the present time, there are various devices available for removal of rubbish from open spaces. The most basic method of collection is the use of a plastic bag into which the rubbish is placed by the collector. Usually the rubbish, which is in the form of waste paper or the like, can be collected by hand although it is also possible to use a spike arrangement. Whichever procedure is utilised, there is a great deal of time taken in collection of such rubbish.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a device for the collection of rubbish, which it is believed will reduce the time taken to collect rubbish.
According to the present invention there is provided a device for collection of rubbish, said device comprising a frame member, said frame member being detachably connected to the neck region of a container for rubbish.
The container for rubbish is suitably a plastic bag, sack or container and the frame device of the invention is detachably connectable to the neck region thereof.
The frame member can be of any desired shape although square, rectangular or circular shaped are preferred.
In use, a plastic bag or sack will be placed on the outside of the frame and is connected thereto. The frame holds open the neck region of the plastic bag or sack and enables rubbish to be brushed into the plastic bag or sack.
In an embodiment of the present invention, a strip member is provided on the normally lower portion of the frame member to assist in transfer of rubbish into the plastic bag or sack.
Furthermore, in a preferred embodiment, a hollow member, suitably a cylinder, is securely connected, e.g. by welding, to the normally top portion of the frame. The size of opening in such member is selected so as to permit the end of a pole or like member to be located therein.
Such embodiment will enable the user to hold the pole or like member in one hand and therefore place the plastic bag on the ground and then rubbish can be swept into the bag through the frame member.
The frame member is suitably formed of 14" galvanised flat iron and the strip member can be formed of any suitable strong metal. It is also to be understood that the frame member and strip member could be formed of plastics material.
It is believed that the device of the present invention will prove more efficient than current arrangements for the collection of rubbish. The rubbish can be immediately transferred to the plastic bag or sack withouth the collector having to hand pick or by use of a spike, pick up the rubbish and then transfer same to the plastic bag or sack. By use of a suitable brush or besom, the rubbish can be directly transferred to the plastic bag or sack.
When the plastic bag or sack is sufficiently filled, then same is detached from the frame member and then a fresh empty bag can be detachably connected thereto.
The present invention will be further described, by of example, with reference to the accompanying informal drawing which illustrates a frame member suitable for attachment to a plastic bag or sack. Whilst the size illustrated in the drawing is particularly suitable for a standard size plastic bag or sack, clearly the size of the frame member will be selected as desired.

Claims (7)

1. A device for collection of rubbish, said device comprising a frame member, said frame member being detachably connected to the neck region of a container for rubbish, a strip member being provided on the normally lower portion of the frame member and a hollow member securely connected to the normally top portion of the frame, the size of opening in such hollow member being selected so as to permit the end of a pole or like member to be located therein.
2. A device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the frame member is square, rectangular or circular.
3. A device as claimed in claim 1 or 2, in which a plastic bag or sack is placed on the outside of the frame and is connected thereto.
4. A device as claimed in any preceding claim, in which the strip member is in the form of a lip which extends along the normally lower portion of the frame.
5. A device as claimed in any preceding claim, in which the frame member is formed of galvanised flat iron and the strip member is formed of metal.
6. A device as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 4, in which the frame member and strip member are formed of plastics material.
7. A device for collection of rubbish, substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
