Abstract

A ground bait feeder is attached to a swivel unit which is itself attached to the line enabling the feeder to revolve to prevent tangling of the fishing line and the feeder on retrieval. The feeder is constructed of wire mesh coated with paint enabling the water to pass through the feeder more easily and causing a rapid release of its contents. It is intended primarily for use in slow moving or still water so that there is a cloud of ground bait in the water in close proximity of the hook. <IMAGE>

Description

SWIVEL ATTACHED PERFORATED GROUND BAIT FEEDER This application relates to a Swivel Attached Perforated Ground Bait Feeder.
A Ground Bait Feeder is a small device which is attached to a fishing line which is used to contain ground bait, which is a mixture of fine ground bread crumbs and maise meal. The feeder is attached to a fishing line and left on the bottom of the river releasing the ground bait into the immediate vicinity of the hook. The ground halt attracts the fish and hopefully they eat the baited hook as well as the aground bait and in doing so they are caught.
The usual Ground Bait Feeder is constructed by means of a cylindrical piece of clear plastic approximately 1' to 2' long and approxlmately 1" in diameter which is open at both ends and perforated rando!lJ along its length. The usual Feeder is attached tc the line in various ways usually with a steel or nylon line loop which is fastened to the fishing line. At the base of the Feeder is a lead weight the purpose of which is to cause the unit to sink to the river bed. Because the loop is attaclieu directly to the Feeder and becausc of the Feeder's tendancy to Dpi. or.
retrieval the whole rig has a tendancy to tangle up.
According to this invention the nyion loop is attached to a swivel unit which is then attached to the filching line so allowing the Feeder to spin without tangling the whole rig up. (See 4.). The Ground Bait Feeder itself is constructed of a wire mesh coated with paint and this meso enables the water to pass through inside the Feeder more easily and therefore causes a much more rapid release of its contents. The inventior is intended primarily for use in slow moving or still waters so that the Feeder releases its contents quickly so there is a cloud of ground bait in the water in close proximity of the hook bait as intended.
Fig. 1 is a diagram of a Ground Bait Feeder showing its overal) construction. Fig. 2. shows the detail of the swivel arrangement.
