Abstract

A vertical slatted blind has its slats 8 operated for tilting and opening by cord only operation. One cord 4 is wound around respective glides 2 rotatably mounted in a track 1. An independent cord 6 is secured to one glide for opening of the blind. The cords are entirely enclosed ensuring a neat fitted appearance with simple means of operation for drawing or turning the louvres. <IMAGE>

Description

cord Operated Vertical linds.
This invention relates to vertical window blinds using louvres, and operated solely by cords.
The existing type of vertical louvre blinds use cord and chain for dra.w- ing the blind louvres, but use a complicated rod and mechanism to turn them to the right or left, and they can only be custom made for fitting.
The louvre draw options to the left or right or when split are complicated, mating this type of blind relatively exPensive0 According~to the present inventlonthe vertical louvres will be carried on snecial plastic glides, equally spaced and running in pole or box tracks, and will be onerated solely by attached cords for single draws to the left or right, but for divided louvres from onposite sides, the draw will be to or from the centre. The turning of the louvres. #o the left or right to give maximum or variable light inlet is ensured by the method of securing the cords to the glide bodies. in the closed position, whatever the draw, there will be a suitable overlap at the louvres, due to the louvre width being greater in dimension than the glide spacing. There will be no fouling of louvres in a recess. The end glides in a recess will be so positioned that the end louvres when closed will clear the walls and allow space for the operating cords, the distance between these end glide centres being the basic measurement for establishing the number of louvres required. This measurement divided by the glide spacing dimension and increased as necessar.yNto give a whole mlmllir result, odd or even, gives the required number of louvres needed.Blinds with a split drnw will require to use an even number of louvres. An outcome of this division will result in a variable amount of overlap at the louvres in the closed position. A specific embodiment of the invention is now described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Fig.l shows a sectional elevation of the pole/box track, with glides in nosition and cords attached.
Fig.2 is a nian view of the above section, demonstrating the fitting of the cords for drawing and turning.
Fig.3 is an end section of the tracks showing the bottom end of the glide for holding and securing the louvres.
Referring to the drawing Fig.12 this shouts at 1 and 2, the track and glides with cords 4 and 6 attached and shows the independent lead of 6 through the separate channel in the track.
Cord 4 is secured to each glide at 3, but cord 6 is secured to one end glide only as at 5.
8 and 9 indicate the louvres and fastenings.
Fig.2 shows the wraPping of cord 4 round the glide bodies and the exact positioning of the seourements at 3.
It demonstrates also how one end of cord 4 is returned round an end glide body to meet the other end of the cord at the operating position for draw ing or turning the louvres as required. Fig.3 shows an end section of the pole and box tracks with 8 and 9 a further detail of the louvre fastening.

Claims (4)

Claims.
1. The vertical blinds will fit any recess without fouling or any other position using standard components, and do not require to be custom made.
2. Blind louvres in the closed position will have adequate overlap.
3. The vertical blind louvres will be carried on equally spaced glides in suitable pole ar box tracks with cords only for drawing or turning.
4. The louvres will be secured to the glides by simple fasteners to facilitate fitting and replacements.
