Description

CAMPING TYPE TABLE WITH LOCKABLE ADJUSTABLE TELESCOPIC LEGS This invention relates to a camping type table with adjustable telescopic legs.
Camping tables of all sizes are well known all of which comprise of a top and four legs or a top and two flat 'U' shaped legs.
Camping tables of the type described herein are not knowingly available and of those that are available non have adjustble legs or are suitable for packing in a rucksack for camping or in a tackle box for fishing.
According to the present invention there is provided a table comprising of a flanged top 1 and four individual adjustable telescopic lockable pivotable leg assemblies 2,3,4,5,6, suitably positioned and secured on the underside of the top in each corner.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 Shows in perspective the table with the legs in the open position.
Figure 2 Shows in perspective the underside of the table with the legs in a closed position.
Figure 3 Shows theexploded view of one of on of the four leg assemblies and its component parts.
Figure 4 Shows a sectional leg assembliy with a means of locking in the closed and open conditions.
Figure 5 Shows a spring button.
Refering to the drawing Fig 1 the table compsises of a flat flanged top 1 in the form of a rectangle made from Aluminium or other suitable material,with an individual adjustable lockable pivotable telescopic leg assemblies 2,3,4,5,6 Fig 4 of tubular form made from Aluminium or other suitable material suitably positioned and secured in each corner of the four corners of the underside of the top 1.
In order to set the table in an upright position an adjustbale telescopic leg assembly 2,3,4,6 Fig 3 is lifted from a flat positon where it is secured by a spring button 6 or other suitable means to an upright position where it is secured by the same spring button 6 that is used to locate the adjustable telescopic leg assembly 2,3,4,6, Fig 3 in a closed postion.
In order to extend the adjustable telescopic leg assembly 2,3,4,6, Fig 3 to the desired length within the range availble a further spring button 6 is depressed and the bottom 3 of the adjustable telescopic leg assembly 2,3,4,6, Fig 3 is moved to the desired location with the spring button 6 or other sutiable means of locking the adjustable telescopic leg assembly 2,3,4,6, Fig 3 bottom 3 in position.
This is repeated for each of the adjustable telescopic leg assemblies 2,3,4,6, Fig 3 and reversed to shorten the adjustable telescopic leg assembly 2,3,4,6, Fig 3 or to fold the adjustable telescopic leg assembly 2,3,4,6, Fig 3 into a closed position.
Refering to the drawing Fig 3 the adjustable telescopic leg assembly top 2 has a series of holes drilled along the centre line of the tube,where the top hole is used to pivot the complete assembly 2,3,4,6, by suitable pivot pin not shown,the next hole along is used for the spigot attached to the spring button 6 which is located in the top 2 to protrude through the side of the top2 and act as location pin for locking the complete assembly 2,3,4,6,in a closed or upright condition.
Bottom 3 has one drilled hole on the centre line of the tube for the spigot attached to a spring button 6 which is located in the top of the tube to protrude through and act as a locking means with any of the remaining holes drilled in top 2.
Plastic bung 4 is located in the base of bottom 3 to prevent debris entering the bottom 3 and also to add to the esthetic look of the adjustable telescopic leg assembly Fig 3.
Refering to Fig 4 the pivot bracket 5 and the adjustable telescopic leg assembly 2,3,4,6, Fig 3, the adjustable telescopic leg assembly 2,3,4,6, Fig 3 in a closed position is prevented from moving inadvertantly by the tension of the spring button 6 located in the top 2 of the adjustable telescopic leg assembly 2,3,4,6, Fig 3 being applied to a corresponding location in the pivot bracket 5.
For the adjustable telescopic leg asembly 2,3,4,6, Fig 3 to be in an open position and to stop the adjustable telescopic leg assemly 2,3,4,6, Fig 3 from moving when the table is lifted or knocked the adjustable telescopic leg assembly 2,3,4,6, Fig 3 is lifted untill the spring button 6 located in the top 2 of the adjustable telescopic leg assembly 2,3,4,6, Fig 3 locates in a corresponding location in the pivot bracket 5.To prevent the adjustable telescopic leg assembly moving past the upright locking postion a stop pin not shown is inserted in the side of pivot bracket 5.
Alternatively the adjustable telescopic leg assembly 2,3,4,6, Fig 3 can be prevented from moving in a closed position by a suitable means not shown.
Alternatively the adjustable telescopic leg assembly 2,3,4,6, Fig 3 can be prevented from moving past the upright position by a stop pin not shown suitably positioned in the pivot bracket 5.

Claims (5)

1. A camping type table comprising of a flat flanged top of rectangular form supported in an upright position by an individual adjustable lockable pivotable telescopic leg assembly of tubular form which is located in a pivot bracket suitably positioned and secured in each of the four corners on the underside of the top.
2. A camping type table claimed as in claim 1 wherein adjustable telescopic legs are used as a means of support.
3. A camping type table as claimed in claim 1 wherein the adjustable telescopic legs are not automatically lockable in either the closed or the open position.
4. A camping type table as claimed in claim 1 wherein the adjustable telescopic legs are lockable in the closed position or the open position by other means than described herein.
5. A camping type table substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1-5 of the accompanying drawings.
