Abstract
Shelving comprising an elongate bracket of L-shaped cross-section (1) and a shelf (5), the bracket being attachable to a wall and having holes (2) therein through which dowels (4) in the shelf edge may pass and engage previously drilled holes in the wall. The position of the shelf is finally fixed by screwing the horizontal arm of the L-shaped bracket to the under side of the shelf. A straight shelf is also disclosed. <IMAGE>
Description
BAUTENLESS SHELVING
This invention relates to a shelving system without any obvious means of support.
a
Shelving systems of one form or another are well known, comprising of a bracket or batten of sime kind or the adjustable type with the timber or metal shelf part secured to them by way of screws or slots.
According to the present invention, there is provided an L shaped corner bracket which, car bo motntad int a corner and the timber shelf can be slid along and secured to.The same method can also apply to straight wall shelving using a straight angled wall bracket.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which figure I shows in perspective. The L shaped corner bracket with the timber shelf being slid into position.
Figure 2 illustrates the L shaped corner bracket on it's own with all relative screw and dowel holes.
Figure 3 shows the straight angled wall bracket with the relative screw holes and dowel holes.
l
Referring to the drawing the L shaped corner bracket comprises 8 6" thick metal shaped to a right angle I. The right hand side of the bracket in tho drawing has also been shaped into an angle to play a supportive role to the shelf when in position. The e bracket itself is screwed to the wall using pre-drilled fixing holes 3. Once the bracket has been fixed into position on the wall the dowel holes 2 can then be drilled into the wall using the preilled dowel holes on the bracket as a guide. On the shelf itself the dowling has been fixed into position 4 so, when the shelf is slid into position the dowling goes through the dowel holes 2 on the bracket and into the wall, thus preventing the shelf being slid out the opposite way. The angled side of the shelf 5 is then fixed into position using pre-drilled screw hole 4 on fig 2.
The straight angled wall bracket uses the sane method on figure 3.
The straight angled wall bracket I, is fixed to the said wall using pre-drilled screw holes 3. When in position the dowel holes 2 can then be drilled into the wall using the pre-drilled holes in bracket 2 as a guide. On the shelf again the dowling 5 has been fixed into position so when the shelf is slid into position, the dowling goes through the dowel holes 2 on the bracket and into the wall then, the shelf is secured by screwing through the pre-drilled screw holes 4 and into the shelf 6.
