Abstract

221,469. Aktiebolaget Separator, (Assignees of Hapgood, C. H.). Sept. 6, 1923, [Convention date]. Recovering waste Lubricants.-Cutting oil is recovered from metal chips or shavings by agitating the chips under hot water, and floating off the oil. In the apparatus shown the shavings or chips are reduced in a crusher or disintegrator a, and passed down a shoot d into an inclined open-ended cylinder c which is slowly rotated in a tank b containing water at 180‹ F. The released oil rises to the top of the cylinder c and floats out through an oversow to a centrifuge s. The water separated by the centrifuge is returned to the tank b by a pump P and pipes u, i. The cleaned chips falling from the lower end of the cylinder care lifted by a conveyer h on to a perforated platform h that discharges periodically into a receiver o. Soda ash, soap, or other oil, removing agent may be added to the water in the tank when recovering a mineral oil.
