Abstract

A pair of skis 2 have a link 1 of inextendible, incompressible material connecting the front ends of both skis. This link is attached to the skis with a universal joint 3 to allow control movements. The link is secured releasably (by hand or force) to the skis, enabling the link to be attached and detached, before and after each ski run. <IMAGE>

Description

SKI LEARNING DEVICE This invention relates to a removable ski-learning device.
Skits are well-knotm vehicles of transport over snow or water which are used in pairs, one attached to each foot of the traveller (who in towed when travelling across water), usually for the purpose of sport.
The skills required for the use of skis is usually laboriously and tortuously learnt, requiring the fine co-ordination of two completely separate skis in situations of;-$lip According to the present invention there is an inextendible and incompressible link across the front ends of the pair of skis i.e. from one to the other. Furthermore, to allow the skier to adjust the angle and position of one ski relative to the other, a universal joint is used at each end of the link to connect to the skis.
The link is easily releasable either by hand or by force (in the event of an accident).
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which; Figure 1 shows in plan the link in position on a pair of skis in flat parallel skiing mode.
Figur 2 shows in nlan the link in position on a psir of skis in the usual mode for learning to stop and turn - the 'snowplough' position.
Figure 3 shows in front elevation the link in position on a pair of skis in the parallel traversing of a slope (or in a parallel turn) mode.
Figure 4 shows in plan elevation of link in position on a pair of skis in the parallel traversing of a slope (or in a parallel turn) mode.

Claims (4)

CLADaIS
1 A ski training device comprising a link of incompressible and inextendible material releasably secured to a position a short distance back from the tips of a pair of skis and comprising of a flexible joint close to or at the position of attachment to each ski.
2 A ski training device as claimed in Claim 1 wherein release is obtained by hand or by excessive force.
3 A ski training device as claimed in Claim Z wherein the flexible joint movement is restricted to inhibit the tip of a ski to pass under the link during normal usage.
4 A ski training device as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the flexible joint movement is restricted to inhibit the passage of the front of one ski to pass over the other during normal usage.
