Abstract

A rack system for the inside of commercial vehicles to enable the storage of items on shelves, racks or in boxes is designed to fit into vehicles with ease and with the minimum of wasted space because the uprights are designed to follow the contours of the vehicle interior. Its design features allows the racks and uprights to be taken out of one vehicle and fitted into a vehicle of the same design and model with the minimum effort and time. <IMAGE>

Description

SEELF/RACK SYSTEM FOR COM > ERCIAL VESICLES This invention relates to a rack/shelf system for vehicles.

Commercial vehicles of the service van type invariably need to have some sort of racking fitted to accomadate loose items in an orderly manner. These racks are usually constructed along the sides of the vehicle interior. Because of the irregular side profiles of commercial vehicles, the basis of these racks centers around a verticle upright fitted to the vehicle interior onto which racks or boxes are fitted.

These units are, however, time consuming to errect and take more interior space than necessary.

According to the present invention there is provided an easy to fit rack system for commercial vehicles, comprising of a series of dividing uprights, tailor made to fit individual vehicles. These have a means of fixing to vehicle sides and floors, or, if necessary, by appropriate backets. A marked template upright is alsa provided for cutting to fit various interior side profiles. The rack/shelves are formed by sections of various lengths and widths. Fitted between the uprights in the method where as a series of horizontal rods run through the uprights, the shelves/ racks or various trays fix onto these rods. Because of the design of the uprights this rack system may easily be transfered to vehicles of a similar model.

A spesific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 shows in perspective assembled racking with molded shelf system.

Claims (7)

1. A racking system comprising upright sections moulded to fit internal sides of commercial vehicles.

2. A racking system as claimed in claim one wherein the upright sections may be in a template style where as cutting along the template markings will result in the upright fitting different interior configurations.

3. h racking system as claimed in claim one or claim two wherein fitting is by at least one bracket.

4. h racking system as claimed in claim one or claim two wherein a moulded fitment flange is incorporated in the edges of the upright sections.

5. A racking system as claimed in claim one and claim two wherein a system of rods pass through the uprights horizontally onto which various shelf or rack fitments fix or clip.

6. A racking system as claimed in claim one or claim two wherein this has a shelf system that fits between the uprights the ends of which fit into moulded slots and are fixed by various means.
