Abstract

A shower head mounting arrangement comprises a wall-mounted rail 14 which also functions as a water supply pipe, a bracket 20 clampable to and slidably adjustable on the rail, and a spray head 24 supportable on the bracket connected by a flexible hose to the bottom end of the rail. A control box 12 housing a mixing valve for regulating the supply of water to the rail may be located above the rail, and a touch control panel 28 may be located nearby. <IMAGE>

Description

SHOWER BATHS This invention relates to shower baths which comprise a spray device, for example a rose, supplied with water mixed to a required temperature in a mixing valve which is connected to the individual hot and cold supplies.
It is known to provide the spray device on the end of a flexible hose, with the device supported on a vertically extending rail. By these means the spray device can be adjusted in height to suit persons of different stature and to cover the alternative situation of spraying the head and face - as in hair washing whilst under the shower - or deliberately directing the spray lower to avoid disturbing coiffure. In the addition the spray device is often detachable from the bracket so as to be hand held.
The object of the invention is to provide a simpler and improved arrangement.
According to the invention a shower bath comprising a spray device at the end of a flexible hose which supplies water from a source to the device, a rail for wall mounting, a bracket sliding on the rail and having means for supporting said spray device is characterised in that said rail is a water supply pipe connecting between the said flexible hose and the water source.
The invention is particularly suitable for use in situations where the mixing valve is remotely controlled and hence may also be remotely positioned, as distinct from the situation where the valve needs to be accessible in the shower cubicle (or like) for immediate access by the bather. One example of a situation where the present invention is particularly suitable is where the mixing valve is electrically or electronically controlled; adjustment is effected via switches, key pads or the like, instead of by manual movement of hand-wheels or the like, and so the valve can be hidden e.g. in the ceiling.
In such an eventuality a pipe is required to extend from the mixing valve into the shower cubicle or like, and by extending this pipe vertically and'adjacent to a wall, it serves the dual purpose of conveying the mixed water and acting as the rail to mount the hand set carrying bracket in a particularly neat and convenient manner.
The pipe which forms the rail may be spaced parallel to the wall by means of appropriate clamps or fixing brackets one of which, secured to an end of pipe, carries a connection for the flexible hose connecting the pipe to the handset.
The accompanying drawing shows a typical embodiment.
The bathroom wall is shown tiled at 10 and (in this instance) control box 12 is fixed to the wall and houses a mixing valve supplying water via the combined supply pipe/rail 14 which is fixed parallel to the wall by the box at one-end and by a bracket 16 at the other and bottom end.
A conventional knob 18 tightened sliding clamp 20 runs on the rail and has a socket to releasably hold hand set 22 which has a spray rose 24 and the set is connected to the pipe 14 at the bottom end of the latter by flexible hose 26.
A touch control panel 28 is shown on the same wall for the purposes of illustration only.
