Description
MIXER TAP PROVIDED WITH A LIQUID SOAP DISPENSER
DESCRIPTION
This invention generally relates to mixer taps for hot and cold water and, more particularly, to a tap of this kind capable of additionally delivering liquid soap.
Among bath fittings which have increasingly found acceptance in recent times, are liquid soap dispensers operated by pressing a lever or a push-button. These fittings are generally arranged near wash basins or sinks and form separate units.
This invention aims at providing a hot and cold water mixer tap permitting the selective delivery of hot, cold or tepid water and/or the delivery of liquid soap.
More particularly, a mixer tap according to the present invention comprises a body, a spout having a water outlet, and a liquid soap storage tank, a suction pump providing communication between a delivery nozzle placed near the water outlet and the tank, there being provided an external actuating means for the pump.
Advantageously, in the case of mixer taps in which separate control means are provided for the hot and the cold water, the suction pump is arranged in the tap body and there is provided a passage formed in the wall of the spout connecting the delivery side of the pump with the delivery nozzle for the liquid soap.
Preferably, in a chamber exisiting on the delivery side of the pump a moving element is arranged, the chamber and moving element acting as a force pump to actuate the suction pump and to force the liquid soap in the passage towards the delivery nozzle.
Suitably, the external means actuating the pump comprises a push element placed on the top of the tap body and connected to the moving element.
Advantageously, in the case of mixer taps having a single control means for the hot and cold water, the suction pump is located in the spout and is connected to the liquid soap tank and to the liquid soap delivery nozzle through hoses.
Preferably, for the suction pump a suitable housing is provided, which is formed in the spout.
Suitably,-the external means actuating the suction pump comprises a push element, located at the end of the spout.
This invention will now be described in more detail in connection with the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a sectional view of a hot and cold water mixer tap of the kind having separate control means for hot and cold water, provided with a liquid soap dispenser according to the invention;
Figure 2 is a sectional view of a hot and cold water mixer tap, of the kind having a single control means for the hot and cold water, provided with a liquid soap dispenser according to the invention;
Figure 3 is a top plan view, partially sectioned, of the tap of Figure 2; and
Figure 4 is a section taken along the line lV-IV of
Figure 3.
Referring now to the drawings and more particularly to
Figure 1, there is shown a conventional mixer tap for mixing hot and cold water, i.e. provided with a control means for the cold water and a control means for the hot water separated from the delivery spout.
The body 1 of this tap has at the inner portion thereof a housing in which the suction pump 2 is inserted, which, through the conduit 3 is connected to the liquid soap tank 4 located below the tap. On the delivery side of the suction pump a chamber 5 is formed in which the actuating element of the suction pump 2 extends. This chamber 5 is formed within a moving element 6 comprised of a fitting provided with a pair of O-rings 7 and having radial bores 12 opening in a circumferential groove 13.
In the upper portion of the spout 14 a passage 8 is formed which connects the chamber 5 with the liquid soap delivery nozzle 9.
This nozzle is located near the water outlet 15 and is downwardly directed. For actuating the suction pump, a push element 10 is provided, which is located on the top of the tap body and is connected to the moving element 6 acting as a force pump. The spout 14 is in communication with the mixing inner chamber 16 of the tap which receives hot and cold water from a pair of hoses 11.
By depressing the push element 10, the moving element 6 actuates the suction pump 2 by first expelling the liquid soap through the bores 12 and the circumferential groove 13 into the passage 8 to the delivery nozzle 9. Release of the push element 10 causes it to return, refilling the pump 2 from the tank 4. The liquid soap tank 4 may be removably fastened to the tap body in order that It can be changed for a new liquid soap tank when the liquid soap contained therein is fully exhausted, or the liquid soap tank 4 can be fastened in a fixed manner, in which case it can be refilled with liquid soap by removing the push element 10, the moving element 6 and the suction pump 2, and then pouring liquid soap into the top of the tap body to fill the tank 4 through the conduit 3.
In Figures 2, 3 and 4 there is shown a hot and cold water mixing tap of the kind having a single control means.
In this case the suction pump 2 is contained within the delivery spout 14 to one side of the water passage and is connected to the liquid soap tank 4 and to the delivery nozzle 9 through hoses 17.
The delivery nozzle 9 is located near the water outlet 15 of the tap, and the suction pump 2 is actuated by a push-button 18 located at the end of the spout 14.
There is also the possibility to provide a suitable housing intended to receive the suction pump 2 in the spout 14.
To deliver liquid soap it is sufficient to depress the pushbutton 18 actuating the suction pump 2 for sucking the liquid soap from the tank 4 and deliver it to the nozzle 9.
