Description
1 A Boiler_for_pl:21RSin_g Hot_W2ter The invention relates to a boiler for
producing hot water.
According to French patent application no. 8612772, the boiler is constituted by a tank for the heating Qf water, a heating means for the tank, a hot water outlet pipe from the upper part of the tank and a return pipe opening into the lower part of the tank. It is characterised in that it is provided with a regulator valve connected to a regulator circuit which includes a means for measuring the external temperature and a temperature probe connected to the return pipe, the valve being connected to the water outlet and return pipes so aa to introduce water from the return pipe into the hot water outlet pipe according to the temperature of the returning water and taking into account the external temperature.
The object of the present invention is to provide improvements to the boiler disclosed in the above French patent application. A boiler in accordance with the present invention is characterised in that the upper part of the tank includes a volume of gas, a sleeve being fixed in an airtight manner in the upper part of the tank by its upper edge, its lower edge being immersed in the water in the tank.
Preferably, the gas is a neutral gas.
The invention is illustrated by way Qf non-limiting exataple in the appended drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a longitudinal section of a boiler according to the invention, 1 2 Figure 2 is a view of the boiler of Figure 1 from above.
The boiler according to the invention is constituted by a tank 1 containing the boiler water, the tank 1 being held by blocks 2 within a concrete casing 3, closed by a cover A thermally insulating material 5 is situated between the tank 1 and the casing 3.
The upper end of the tank is provided with a collar 6 to which a closure member 7 is fixed. A hot water outlet pipe 10 passes through the cover 7 on one side and the return pipe 11. which returns the cooled water after use, passes through it on the other side to the interior of the tank.
The hot water outlet pipe 10, which opens under the cover 7, supplies the areas to be heated by means of a circulation pump 17 with its associated pump delivery regulator 17 1.
The pipe 11 for returning the cooled water descends almost to the bottom of the tank by means of a pipe 11 1. Moreover, the pipe 11 includes, a three-way valve 20, connect,-.,4 by a bypass 21 to the hot water outlet pipe 10 so that water from the return pipe 11 can be introduced Into the hot water outlet pipe 10 so that it is mixed with the hot water and sent back by the pump 17 towards the areas to be heated. A regulator 27 effects the recycling of the cooled water according to the temperature of the returning water and on the ambient temperature. An ambient temperature sensor 22 1 and a returning water temperature sensor 22 are provided for this purpose.
If' 111 3 11 The water is heated by an electrical resistor 12, the water to be heated coming into contact therewith before being discharged throught the pipe 10.
The pipe 11 1 In the tank, and the resistance 12, are arranged within a cylindrical body 13 ensuring the circulation of water from the outside of the cylindrical body to its interior, through its lower end. The upper opening of the tank, defined by the collar 6, is provided with a cylindrical sleeve 28 which is welded in an airtight manner in the upper part of the tank of the periphery of its opening, the sleeve dipping into the water of the tank.
A space 29 is defined externally by the sleeve 28 in the upper part of the tank and is filled with a neutral gas, whilst a layer 30 of a liquid product, such as oil or paraffin, which is immiscible with water floatB on the surface of the water in the tank.
The volume of gas is intended to compensate for the expansion of the water in the tank.
The inner end of the water return pipe 11 includes a flat chamber 31 at Its lower end, the periphery 32 of whose lower face 33 is provided with an opening with a large cross-section. The purpose of thle opening is to distribute slowly the water returning to the tank through pipe 11 at the base of the tank, so as not to create turbulence, no that the gravitational movement of the hot water is not disturbed by the arrival of cold water. This arrangement thus enables the stratification of the water in dependance on its temperature to be maintained.
If it is thought necessary the chamber 31 may also include perforation in its lower face 33, the main point being that the total area of the holes 32 and 3 should 1 4 be large in order to reduce the flow velocity of the cooled water. The cross-section of the chamber 31 preferably corresponds to that of the cylindrical body and is less than that of the sleeve 28.
$0 Moreover, the boiler according to the invention, is provided with a regulation device (not shown) which is constituted by an electronic box connected so as to control the connection and disconnection of the boiler in order to supply or cut off the heating resistor 12.
This regulation devire is designed so that it can be operated by a coded electro-magnetic wave signal and enable the boiler to be started up at o:rfpeak electrical energy consumption times. A temperature probe 34, immersed in the water of the tank, in connected to this circuit.
