Abstract

A storage arrangement for photographic transparencies comprises a file sheet (e.g. for storage in a suspension box file) having a plurality of pockets arrayed thereon, and transparency-receiving envelopes adapted to be received within said pockets. As shown (Fig 3) eight pockets are arranged in two rows on a suspension file, and an envelope is shown in the second pocket from the left in the bottom row. The envelopes comprise two compartments, a lower being of a size to accept a transparency, and an upper being adapted to contain a documentation record; the arrangement being such that when the envelope is received in a pocket, the documentation record is visible. The transparency receiving portion may be overprinted by a border, and the portion overlying the picture area of the transparency may bear a grid to prevent unauthorised reproduction of an enveloped picture or the like. The envelopes may be sealed by heat or high frequency or by a security label. <IMAGE>

Description

VISIONBANK PHOTO TRANSPARENCY FILING SYSTEM This invention relates to a Photo Transparency Filing System.
Photo Transparen@ies are images (Photographic or Design), produced on film and are used for visual reference. @ Trensparency is viewed by transmitted lig@t.
According to the present invention. there is provided a flexible storage system to cover most popular transparen@@ sizes. The e@closed transparencies are sto@@@ in spe@ially manu@actured suspended filing systems or standard filing boxes.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with @eference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows in plan form an example of a Transpare@cy Pocket.
Figure 2 shows and example of the overprinted grid.
Figure 3 illustrates the siting of a Transparency Pocket into a Plastic Sleeve Referring to the drawings, the Filing System comprises 4 standard sized Transparency Pockets, which are stored in either suspended filing systems, using the Pockets and Sleeves as mentioned above@ or conventional filing bo@es.
The Transparency Pockets are divided into two sections. (see Fig 1) Informative Labels are inserted into the smaller section (1) Transparencies are inserted into the larder section (2) One portion Of the right cogs of the Transparency Pocket is unse@led (3), to allow insertion cf an informative label.
An area on one sloe of the Transparency Pocket is left clear for either heat sealinq or sealing with a security label (4) The larger section (i! ic overprinted with a selected color (shown in Black on Fig 2) The clear area of the Pockets (5) vary according to the size af transparency to be stored.
For the purposes of security, for instance to prevent unauthorised reproduction, this clear are is overprinted with a grid (6).
This facility also allows for a certain amount of v u1 rropp i ng.
The first size of pocket enables transparencies to be stored in multiples of 8 in a Plastic sleeve. (see Fig The second, third and fourth sizes of pocket enables transparencies to b stored in multiples of 4, 2 and t respectively.
Standard size informative labels, either one or two-sided, fit into 1 and can be printed by computer, typed or handwritten, thus enabling a computerised or manual system of labelling

Claims (1)

  1. CLAIMS 1. A picture storage system which will store transparencies (negatives or small samples). comprising a printed or non-printed plastic sleeve (fig 1) with means to hold up to eight printed or non-printed security plastic pockets (figs 1 & 2) which themselves store the transparencies, designs, negatives, samples.
    2. Each sleeve is designed and sized to store the pockets (+ig :l @ 2) for maximum visibility of the transparency and to enable a maximum of eight pockets to be stored comfortably in standard filing cabinets or boxes.
    3. The sleeve design enables a choice between standard suspended filiny cabinets or box filing systems and ensures bending o+ the plastic pockets does not occur and tat adequate clearance is obtained between the sleeve and filing cabinet or box.
    4. The pockets as shown in Fig 2 have a separate area for filing a removeable information label for identification purposes - labels are designed for use in computerised systems or type-writers or for manual use.
    5. The pocket has a printed border facility for masking various sizes of transparency or negative and contains 5s grid as shown in Fig 2 to assist the prevention o+ reproduction of the image without permission.
    6. The printed border can Ge on the outside or inside o+ the pocket and can be in any colour (preferably i@ert) to assist swift category identification 7. The pocket can be sealed by heat or high frequency sealing equipment or by using security labels affixed manually.
    8. The identification labels can be printed, bar-coded, hand written or typed but are designed to be used (preferably) in conjunction with the computerised program called " The Visionbank Library Management System".
    9. The image is held in a perfect position by guide lines.
    10. .k':eeps images tidy and stored for ease of viewing as well as providing @rotection from damage.
t1. Excludes the necessity of separate enclosure for masking images for presentation purposes.
    12. Suited to several methods of storage including: hanging plastic files; box files; index card files.
    13. Suits storage of images from 35mm or smaller to 6x9mm to view eight at a time.
    14. Provides sufficient protection to be mailed, transported without undue damage and provides, in addition, a presentation viewing standard.
