Description

f.) (". - i_.1.. 1.1 L,-- U 1, b b,,/- 1 1 Charging device for
solidlliquid mixtures The invention concerns a charging device for distributing solid/liquid mixtures evenly over the whole width of a conveyor device at the outlet of the charging device. in particular for filter and wet sieving devices in which the mixture is fed into a box-shaped charging device from above and issues by gravity from its lower region. whence it is delivered to the conveyor device. The operation of filters such as vacuum band filters or vacuum drum band filters and of wet sieving devices depends on ensuring an even feed of the solid/liquid mixture. Known charging devices already have a box-shaped cross-section with an upper inlet opening and a lower outlet opening. Since the operating condition of the fed mixture cannot be kept constant during the whole operation, the supply to the conveyor device is uneven.
It is desirable to achieve even distribution over the whole belt width of the conveyor device. regardless of the continuity and quantity of the feed mixture.
The present invention provides charging devices as set forth in Claims 1 or 10.
1 I- X X 2 As a result of the stepped cross-section and the guide devices. the mixture. which is fed continuously or discontinuously. is distributed evenly over the whole width of the charging device and can consequently also be charged over the whole width of the conveyor device connected at the outlet side. To increase this effect, the box may be constructed with a fishtail-shaped cross-section. increasing in width from top to bottom, and the box floor may have an angle of inclination which is substantially constant. In accordance with another idea, the guide devices may be roughly vane-shaped and may be arranged substantially vertically. In order to deal with different concentrations of the mixture, the guide devices or vanes can be rotated about their longitudinal axies. In this way, the guide devices can be suited to the flow properties of the mixture, in order to ensure in each case an even charge over the whole width of a belt of the conveyer device connected at the outlet side. The guide devices are preferably attached to mountings which are supported on both sides and positioned above the ledges. The guide devices can be supported on either one side or on both sides. As the mixtures are in many cases very abrasive, a wearing plate composed of a wear-resistant material may be provided adjacent to the mixture inlet.
1 3 To avoid splashes, the box may be closed by a removable cover. Adjustment of the guide devices and any possible cleaning can consequently be carried out easily from above; the removal and installation of any possible damaged components can also be carried out easily. In accordance with another idea, the housing and/or the guide devices may be composed of high-grade steel or a wear-resistant synthetic material or plastics.
Alternatively. there is also the possibility of coating a housing. composed for example of metal, with a layer of synthetic material or plastics.
The invention will be further described. by way of example. with reference to the accompanying drawing. in which Figures 1 and 2 show a side view and a top view of a charging device in accordance with the invention.
A box-shaped housing 2. made of high-grade steel. can be closed by means of a cover 3. The mixture is fed into the upper region 4 and flows by gravity out of the lower region 5 onto a conveyor device the rest of which is not shown. The charging device 1 - viewed in the direction of the flow of the mixture - has a steplike cross-section. forming several ledges 6,7,8, whilst the floor 19 is inclined at a steady angle from top to bottom. On each ledge 6,7,8 there is arranged a number I- 4 of guide devices 9,10,11 in the shape of vanes, these being rotatable about their longitudinal axes 12j13,14. The vanes 9.10.11 are connected on the one hand to the ledges 6.7.8 and on the other hand to mountings 15. 16.17. Th6 mountings 15.16,17 are supported on both sides of the box 2. The box 2 itself has a fishtail-shaped cross-section, increasing in width from top to bottom. A wearing plate 18 is provided in the area of the mixture inlet 4. this plate being composed of a different material from the box 2. The mixture is fed continuously or discontinuously to the inlet 4, rebounds off the wearing plate 18 and is distributed over the steps 6,7,8, the inclined floor 19, and the guide devices 9,10,11 provided there, and can thus be evenly distributed over the whole width of the conveyor device. the rest of which is not shown.
The present invention has been described above purely by way of example. and modifications can be made within the spirit of the invention.
