Abstract

Apparatus for removing water from wet surfaces in the home or on sports grounds comprises a liquid absorbing roller A and a press roller B for squeezing out absorbed liquid from roller A. The liquid squeezed out may be collected in tanks carried on the apparatus. The apparatus may be hand-pushed or power-driven. <IMAGE>

Description

SURFACE WATER REMOVER This invention relates to the removal of surface water whether it be from a burst water pipe in the home or from rain on football pitches bowling greens or any sports grounds.
This invention will comprise of a large absorbent roller the size of which depends on where it is going to be used. For example in the home 500mm long 350mm in diameter. On sports grounds it can be any size to suit their requirements. In both ends of the roller there are large cavities to house the water reservoir.
On the top of the absorbent roller there is a compression which is smaller than the other one and squeezes the water out of the absorbent roller and into the reservoir each side.
The water in the reservoirs can be removed by standing the machine over a convenient drain by removing a simple plug to allow the water to drain away.
This invention can be powered by hand on the very small models or power electric motor petrol or diesel engines on the very large models.
To avoid damaging the absorbent roller by turning the machine it will operate in both directions by swinging the pressure roller over to the other side.

Claims (1)

  1. Claims
Claim 1 The surface water remover is a large liquid absorbing roller with a pressure roller mounted on to which squeezes out any liquid which has been absorbed as it is pushed along which runs into the water reservoirs.
Claim 2 The surface water remover can remove water or any other liquid from any surface.
Claim 3 The surface water remover can remove water or any liquid from any surface as in Claim 2 depending on the thickness of the absorbant material around the large roller.
Claim 4 The surface water remover can remove toxic or inflammable liquids without a risk of explosion as in Claim 2 and 3.
Claim 5 The surface water remover would remove oil slicks providing it was mounted on floats mechanically propelled for rotation and the absorbant material on the roller will absorb the oil.
