Abstract
A timepiece has concentric rings of coloured lights to indicate time, the outer ring showing hours the next ring minutes and the inner ring seconds. In an alternative mode the rings may indicate the date. A single light only is illuminated in each ring to convey the appropriate information. <IMAGE>
Description
WATCH OR CLOCK WORKING BY LIGHTS
This invention relates to a watch or a clock working by coloured lights.
According to the present invention there is provided a clock or a watch working by the beat of coloured lights. Each light represents each hour, minute, second and also using the hours and the minute signs for the date and month of the year. To tell the time each light representing each hour, minute, second, date or month wanted will light up to give the correct time or recording needed, while the rest of the face are left unworking.
The invention will now be decribed by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which :
Figure 1 - shows the hours
Figure 2 -the hours and the minutes
Figure 3 - the hours, minutes and introducing the seconds so giving
a full illustration of the invention.
Figure 4 - three examples of how to tell the time.
Figure 5 - two examples of how to tell the date and month of the
year.
A detailed description will now be given to explain each of the signs which are the hours, minutes, seconds, dates, months of the year and the colour display. Also referring to the drawings examples of how to tell the time.
The hours are the largest circles being 12 to representing the 12 hours. (as shown on fig la)
Starting from circle 1 meaning hour .1 (as shown on fig Ib) until circle 12 meaning hour 12.
The colours are as follows:
Hour 12 = blue
Hours 1 and 11 = green
Hours 2 and 10 = yellow
Hours 3 and 9 = orange
Hours 4 and 8 = red
Hours 5 and 7 = pink
Hour 6 = purple
The minutes as shown on fig 2a are the smaller circles between the hours and the star sitting next or on top of the hours.
The colours are as follows: minute 60 = blue 1 to 4 = blue 5 to 9 = green 10 to 14 e yellow 15 to 19 = orange 20 to 24 = red 25 to 29 = pink 30 = purple 31 to 35 = pink 36 to 40 = red 41 to 45 = orange 46 to 50 = yellow 51 to 55 = green 56 to 60 = blue
Page - 2 - continued
The seconds as shown on fig 3a have the same display and colours as the hour and minute display. Each large circle represents every 5th second.
Date and month of the year the hour and minute signs are used. To know the month of the year each hour represents each month;
Hour 1 = January until
Hour 12 = December.
The minutes 1 to 31 represent the dates.
An example shown on fig sa shows us the date as 'April 31sot'= Hour 4=red 'Minute 31= pink
Fig 5b shows us 'February 11th' =
Hour 2 = yellow
Minute 11 = yellow.
To know how to tell the time three examples have been given which will now be explained:
Fig 4a- The time shows as 12'0'clock exactly. The only lights that have lit up are the following
Hour 12 = blue
Minute 60 = blue second 60 = blue
Fig 4b - shows the time as 5 minutes past 8 and 60 seconds;
The only lights that have lit up are the following
Hour 8 = red
Minute 5 = green Second 60 = blue
Fig 4c - shows the time as 6 minutes past 3 and 7 seconds;
The only lights that have lit up are the following
Hour 3 = orange
Minute 6 = green
Second 7 = green
From these examples we can see the display of lights working together at the right sequence.
Claims (1)
1 A watch or a clock using lights as a way of recording the time including the hours, minutes, seconds, date and months of the year to give a wide variety. The lights being attractive to the eye when lit up and moving in sequence. The whole body of the invention is shaped as a circle but any shape could be used ie. square or a diamond.
The same also for the circles for the hours and a star for the 5th minute, these could also be altered to any other shape or symbols.
The actual colours of the lights used according to the invention given again can be changed using one or more colours wanted. The arrangement of the display could be made to be in a different order if desired.
