Description
2204183 An Alternating Current Magnet with at least one short circuit
ring.
The present invention relates to an alternating current magnet with at least one short-circuit ring which lies at least in one groove of a laminated iron core and is retained therein by a groove closure which has at least the length of the groove and projects into the lateral grooves arranged in the opposite groove walls.
From German Design (DE-GM) No. 1,779,078 an alternating current magnet is known of the type mentioned at the outset. In this arrangement the groove closure is wedge-shaped, of an easily moulded material, e.g.
aluminium and is pressed in, in order to fix the short circuit ring into the wedge-shaped lateral grooves.
The short-circuit ring itself is covered with an impact attenuating sleeve made of silicone rubber, in order to attenuate the impact caused by striking of the magnet armature. Covering the short-circuit ring therefore requires a method step which involves considerable costs. Pressing the groove closure of aluminium into the wedge-shaped lateral grooves is complicated and may be carried out only with a relatively expensive device.
Among aims of the present invention are to create an alternating current magnet of the type mentioned at the outset, in which any impact by the magnet armature on the short-circuit ring is attenuated, and in which the short-circuit ring is fixed in the groove by simple means.
Accordingly, the invention proposes an alternating current magnet with at least one short-circuit ring, which lies at least in one groove of a laminated iron core and is retained therein by a groove closure which 2 has at least the length of the groove and projects into the lateral grooves arranged in the opposite groove walls, characterised in that the groove closure projecting into the lateral grooves comprises a material with the resilience of rubber. This groove closure attenuates any blow on the short-circuit ring by butting the magnet armature. Moreover, this groove closure may be inserted into the groove using simple means and is economically advantageous.
Preferably the groove closure is of silicone rubber with a cross section which is round in the relaxed state, wherein the lateral grooves may have a circle segment shaped cross section. The groove closure may protrude out of the iron core at the ends of the groove.
An examplary embodiment of the invention is now described with reference to the enclosed drawings, in which:
Fig.1 shows a cross-section through part of an alternating current magnet which is equipped with a short-circuit ring; and Fig.2 shows the plan view of this arrangement.
In Fig.1 a" part of a laminated iron core 1 of an alternating current magnet with a short-circuit ring 2 is shown in section. The section line is designated A-A in Fig.2, which Fig.2 shows the plan view of the arrangement.
The short circuit ring 2 is placed into the grooves 3 in the iron core 1. The groove 3 has near its mouth two circular segment-shaped lateral grooves 4 recessed in the opposite walls of the groove 3. 1% 3 The groove closure 5, which is circular in the relaxed state, projects into the lateral grooves 4. The groove closure 5 comprises a material with the resilience of rubber. such as silicone rubber for example. In the position of rest in terms of operation, at the ends of the groove 3, the groove closure 5 protrudes slightly out of the iron core 1 at its end.
The pre-moulded short-circuit ring 2 is placed first of all into the groove 3 of the laminated iron core 1.
Then the groove closure 5 comprising material with the resilience of rubber is stretched until its width is smaller than the width of the mouth of the groove 3. In this stretched state the groove closure 5 is placed into the groove 3 and then released. The relaxed groove closure 5 is so wide that it projects into the lateral grooves 4 in the groove walls. The short-circuit ring 5 is retained in the groove 3 of the iron core 1 by this inserted groove closure 5. The stretching of the groove closure 5 may be implemented manually or, with automatic assembly lines, may be achieved by appropriate devices.
The groove closure 5 may of course also be simply pressed into the groove 3.
The groove closure 5, comprising material with the resilience of rubber, attenuates any impact on the short-circuit ring 2 by the magnet armature, which is not shown in the figures.
The special advantages of the alternating current magnet, formed in. accordance with the invention, consists in that the groove closure 5 with the resilience of rubber both attenuates any impact on the short-circuit ring 2 by the magnet armature and retains the short circuiting ring 2 in the groove 3. This dual function may be achieved by the economically 1 4 advantageous groove closure 5 comprising material with 1 the resilience of rubber. 11) k, A 1 5
