Abstract

A detachable "learner plate" has a clip to enable it to be attached to a vehicle window and easily removed when the learner is not involved in driving the vehicle. An adjustment feature is provided to ensure that the "learner plate" is presented with the top edge horizontal, irrespective of the angle of the vehicle window. <IMAGE>

Description

Detachable Learner Plate This invention relates to a detachable "learner plate".
Currently, the more usual method of attaching "learner plates" to cars and other vehicles is to either stick them to the bodywork or tie them to the vehicle such as on the bumpers. Sticking runs the risk of affecting the paintwork and is a semi-permanent solution. Tying is also often a messy and non convenient method. Certainly, neither method offers an easy way to remove and replace the plates for just the period the learner is driving the vehicle. As a consequence, "learner plates" are frequently left showing when non-learners are driving the vehicle.
According to the present invention there is provided a device that can be easily clipped on to the window of the vehicle and left in place only when the learner is using the vehicle, the device also being adjustable to cater for the varying angles of window on different vehicles.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows the devices in place on a non specific vehicle.
Figure 2 shows the attachment to the window and how it is retained in position.
Figure 3 shows the concept of adjustment to cater for differing angles of window so that the top edge of the "learner plate" can be kept in a horizontal attitude.
Referring to the drawing, the invention comprises a clip shaped to fit over the window glass, held in place when the window is raised, trapping the clip in position.
Removal of the device is by lowering the window and detaching the clip portion from the window.
When the device is first used on a given vehicle, the "learner plate" element of the device is pivoted through the vertical plane until its top edge is horizontal. It is then clamped in that position for future use.

Claims (2)

Claims
1) A detachable "learner plate", a clip to securely trap the device on to the window of the vehicle it is to be used on.
2) A detachable "learner plate" as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the plate portion can be rotated in the vertical plane and clamped to ensure the top edge is horizontal, irrespective of the angle of the vehicle window.
