Abstract

An automatic pellet feed unit for releasably fitting to air rifles/pistols of the pump or reservoir type has its body 1 inlet into the bolt/breech section of said weapons. When bolt 12 is withdrawn to cock the firing mechanism, slide 18 is drawn back, springs 17 are placed under tension, spring 7 is compressed and spring 16 starts to rise allowing main slide 2 to snap back, whereupon flaps 3 snap open to discharge one pellet into the breech, the following pellets being restrained by spring 6. When bolt 12 is pushed forward the pellet enters the barrel spring 7 returns slide 18, main slide 2, and flaps 3 and spring 6 releases restrained pellets allowing the pellets to be pushed forward by spring 8 ready to repeat the operation. <IMAGE>

Description

AUTOMATIC PELLET FEED UN:T This invention relates to an automatic pellet feed unit.
Air rifles or pistols that operate by the use of a bolt to cock a firing mechanism can within the same operation be made to load a pellet ready for firing. Present bolt action Puxp/Reservoir Airguns have no means other than manual loading. When a bolt is pulled back to cock the mechanism one has to insert a pellet into the barrel with fingers.
This unit when fitted fees the pellet automaticaly each time the bolt is retracted, and pushed forward.
According to the present invention there is provided a body inthe form of a tube,Two ejection flaps, front slide, a retaining spring force feed spring ,and a return spring. A small spring that operates two flaps.
Three screws. One to secure flap spring to body. Two to secure flaps to body. Two thumhscrews provide means for releasaily securing the unit to a bolt/breech housing.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing,in which.
riKure I, Showns in perspective the feed unit placed into the breech of an Airrifle/Pistol,ready to feed pellets.
Figure 2. Illustrates the component parts of the unit.
Figure 3. Illustrates an internal veiw of the unit full with pellets ready to be placed into breech housing of an airgun.
I2 A is the recess reqiured to operate the slide.
2k shows the taper of slide and flaps.
XeSering to the drawing the unit comprises a bodyl which is filled with pellets force fed by spring 8 held in by cap 9 releasable secured to bolt housing 10 by two thum1L screws 11, operation of slide 18 is by leans of bolt 12.
when bolt 12 is withdrawn to cock firing mechanism slide 18 is drawn back, springs 17 are placed under tension spring 7 is compressed and spring 16 starts to rise allowing main slide 2 to snap back.in the same instance Flaps 3 snap open with the aid of spring 5. One pellet drops into the breech, the following pellets being restrained by spring 6 Tkten bolt 12 is pushed forward the pellet enters the barrel spring 7 returns side 18 main slide 2 ,and flaps 3 to ready position, in the same instance spring 6 releases restrained pellets allowing the pellets to be pushed forward by spring 8 ready to repeat the operation.
aprinG 6 is soldered to the front of main slide 2 and goes through channell3 to run in channel 14 in body 1.
Figure IA in fit. 3 is an alternate shape of body 1. 15 donates the cutout reqiured in body 1 to allow a pellet to entcr flaps 3

Claims (1)

  1. CLAY An automatic pellet feed unit, when fitted to the housing of a bolt operated Air Rifle/Pistol will on operation of the bolt mechanism automaticaly eject a pellet into the breech of said weapon, whereby previouse loading had to be done manually.
The unit can be fitted to existing weapons after a small amount of machineing is done to an Air Rifle/Pistol of the type mentioned.
The unit can be fitted and msie releasable by the means of thurbscrews, the unit can also be transfered from one weapon to another.
The action of retracting a bolt to cock a trigger mechanism operates the pellet feed unittwhich allows one pellet to enter the breech when the bolt is returned to its forward position, the pellet enters the barrel ready to fire,at the same time the unit makes ready to load another pellet into the breech ready to repeat the cycle.
Thus the speed and rate of fire is in reased.
