Abstract

The locater comprises a radio transmitting device, 10 and a remote control programmer 12. The transmitting device is attached to the vehicle and is programmed with the registration number of the vehicle, using the programmer. The programmer is also used to arm the transmitting device when the owner leaves the vehicle. If the vehicle is stolen, a motion detector 11 will trigger the transmitting device which then transmits the registration number to be picked up by a police radio receiver. <IMAGE>

Description

MOTOR VEHICLE LOCATER The invention relates to a motor vehicle locater. A major problem with motor vehicles, is their being stolen.
According to the present invention, there is provided a motor vehicle locater, comprising a radio transmitting device, and remote control programmer.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows in perspective, the radio transmitting device and the remote control programmer.
Referring to the drawing, the invention comprises, a radio transmitting device 10 and a radio control programmer 12.
The transmitting device 10 will be programmed with the registration of the vehicle using the remote control programmer 12. Once this is done, the transmitting device is concealed on the vehicle, such as in the door panel. Every time the vehicle is left unattended, the transmitting device 10 is activated by a code word or numbers from the remote control programmer 12.
If the vehicle is stolen the motion detector 11 will immediately trigger the transmitting device, to continuously send out the registration of the vehicle. This will be picked up by any Police radio.
Other details on the drawing are, Battery 8, Magnets 9 and voice synthesizer 14.
The magnets have two uses. The first being that when the transmitting device is hidden on a vehicle, because it is attached to metal, the vehicle will act as an aerial for the programmer. Also there is another magnet inside the transmitter, which connects to the other, when the transmitter is attached to the vehicle. If a thief was to find the transmitter and pull it off, the two magnets would separate, breaking a circuit and would operate for a few seconds before it is destroyed.
The cancel switch on the remote control programmer 12, is to change the vehicle registration and the code.
