Abstract

A rotary valve has an adjustable liner 3 which is fitted within the rotary valve main body 1 and placed on to the rotor 2 circumference. The liner 3 is urged against rotor 2 by spring 7, and may be adjusted up or down by screws 6 or 5 acting upon lugs 8. A passage 4 is provided for venting air from rotor 2. <IMAGE>

Description

ADJUSTABLE ROTARY VALVE LINER.
This invention relates to Rotary Valves or Rotary Seals.
Rotary Valves or Rotary Seals are well known components which comprise of main body and segmented rotor within the body.
Rotary Valves or Rotary Seals are used to meter powders or granules from vessel above to a vessel below which can be under pressure or vacuum or atmospheric pressure conditions.
Due to an abrasive nature of some powders and granules, the clearance between rotor and main body is increased and the rotory valve becomes inefficient and have to be replaced or renovated.
According to the present invention there is an adjustable liner within the inlet of the valve which can be lowered to accomodate wear between the surface of the rotor and the liner. One of the liner four inlet sides is sloped to accomodate vent hole to evacuate air from the rotor pockets.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of an example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 illustrates cross section of the Rotary Valve Figure 2 shows section X - X.
Refering to the drawing, the Rotary Valve comprises of main body 1 and rotor 2 with adjustable liner 3 which is held on top of the rotor by springs 7 and can be adjusted up and down by screws 5 and 6 by exerting pressure on to the lugs 8, which are part of. the adjustable liner. Vent hole 4 allows air to escape from the rotor pockets.
