Abstract
A cigarette or cigar packet holder is provided which comprises a base, walls attached to the base, and a partition within the walls, the arrangement being such that two compartments are formed within the walls one of which is of a size to receive slidably a packet of cigarettes or cigars and the other is of a size suitable for slidably receiving a lighter. The compartments may include spring members adapted to engage the packet and lighter with sufficient friction to prevent their falling out inadvertently. The holder, packet and lighter may all be designed to fit together as a compact unit in which the packet and lighter snugly fit into the holder without separating inadvertently but permitting easy withdrawal and replacement of the packet and lighter as required. <IMAGE>
Description
TITLE: CIGARETTE PACKET HOLDER
This invention relates to cigarette or cigar packet holders.
According to the invention a cigarette packet holder comprises a base, walls attached to the base, and a partition within the walls, the arrangement being such that two compartments are formed within the walls one of which is of a size to receive slidably a packet of cigarettes and the other is of a size suitable for slidably receiving a cigarette lighter.
The invention includes the set of parts comprising the holder as above defined together with a cigarette packet and a cigarette lighter all made so that the packet and lighter fit- slidably in the two compartments.
The compartments may include spring members adapted to engage the packet and lighter with sufficient friction to prevent their falling out inadvertently.
The base may have an opening at the bottom of one or each compartment to facilitate pushing out the packe and/or lighter when required.
The walls may be about the same height as the lighter end and may be much lower than the packet at the packet compartment leaving two upstanding corner angle posts at the end remote from the lighter compartment.
The end wall may have openings which open into the top edges to facilitate withdrawal of the packet and lighter.
The invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying diagrammatic drawings wherein Figure 1 is a perspective view of a holder made in accordance with the invention;
Figure 2 is a side elevational view thereof;
Figures 3, 4 and 5 are end views and bottom plan views respectively;
Figure 6 is a perspective view of the holder, packet and lighter disengaged; and
Figure 7 is an assembled view thereof.
The holder comprises a base 10 carrying upstanding side walls 11,12 and end walls 13,14. Within the walls and attached to them and to the base 10 there is a partition 16 parallel to the end walls thereby forming a large compartment to receive slidably a cigarette packet 18 and a small compartment to receive slidably a lighter 19.
The partition 6 is punched out to form a leaf spring 20 which projects into the packet compartment and a leaf spring 21 which projects into the lighter compartment these springs being arranged to engage the packet and lighter with sufficient resilient pressure to prevent the packet and lighter from falling out cf the holder inadvertently.
The end wall 13 has an opening 214 open at the top edge and the opposite end wall 14 also has an opening 25 open at the top edge. Likewise the walls 11, 12 have openings 26, 27 which extend down to the same depth as opening 24 and leaving two upstanding angle shaped corner parts 28, 29 which engage the corners of the packet-.
The openings facilitate removal of the packet and lighter.
The walls 11,12 are of about the same height as the lighter at the lighter compartment but much lower than the lighter and packet at the packet compartment which also makes it easy to remove the packet.
The base 10 has an opening 30 which lightens the holder and can also be used for pushing up the packet.
An opening can also be made in the base 10 at the lighter compartment.
The holder, packet and lighter may all be designed to fit together as a compact unit in which the packet and lighter snugly fit into the holder without separating inadvertently but permitting easy withdrawal and replacement of the packet and lighter as required.
-The inside corners of the small compartment formed by the end wall 14, partition 16 and side walls 11, 12 may be provided with triangular sectioned infils 31 formed integrally with the walls and partition. This feature serves to locate the lighter which would be shaped with suitable chambered longitudinal corners.
The holder may carry indicia and decorations to complement the cigarette packet design. Similarly, the lighter may be decoratively matched to the holder and cigarette packet design.
The holder may be made in any of a number of suitable materials such as metal, plastic and glass. In the case of plastic molding spring metal retaining clips may be provided. If made in glass, raised portions may be provided extending in to the respective compartments in which case the resilience of the cigarette package or plastic container of the lighter may be relied upon for retaining the package and lighter.
Claims (11)
1. A cigarette or cigar packet holder comprising a base, walls attached to the base, and a partition within the walls, the arrangement being such that two compartmen-ts are formed within the walls one of which is of a size to receive slidably a packet of cigarettes or cigars and the other is of a size suitable for slidably receiving a lighter.
