Abstract

In a gas burner of the type having two separately supplied annular gas housings 2 and 4 with respective annular covers 27 and 47, the covers are provided with gas outlet grooves substantially at their inner peripheries to produce flames at the inner side of the bottom of a cooking pot or the like. The grooves cooperate with a bevelled annular surface provided on the inner wall of the respective housing 2 or 4. The covers have projections on their outer edges which engage with annular shoulders on the outer walls of the housings. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Gas burner construction This invention relates to a gas burner construction, particularly to an improved gas burner construction having two concentric annular gas housings with gas outlets disposed at the innermost possible side so as to converge heat produced by the gas burner.
Gas burners of one-piece construction existing hitherto are susceptible to become clogging at their nozzles which open at the top side of the gas burner because of the liquid or other material falling from a cooker onto the gas burner. There is also another type of gas burner with gas outlets disposed and opened at the outer periphery rather than at the top of the gas burner. These gas outlets are defined by grooves formed substantially at the outer periphery of an annular cover which is a separate part covering an annular gas housing.
The problem of clogging the gas outlets also exists in such a type of gas burner. In addition, the flame produced at these gas outlets converges outward so that heat can not be transmitted efficiently to the inner side of the bottom of a cooking pot.
An object of the present invention is to provide an improved gas burner which can provide heat efficiently to a cooking pot.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an improved gas burner which has gas outlets at the inner periphery thereof so as to converge heat substantially at the inner side of the bottom of a cooking pot or the like.
According to the present invention, a gas burner comprises: a first annular housing having a first annular base, a first upstanding inner wall and a first upstanding outer wall extending from the first annular base, the first upstanding inner wall having a first top bevelled face, and the first upstanding outer wall having a first annular shoulder formed at the inner, upper side of the first upstanding outer wall; a second annular housing around the first annular housing having a second annular base, a second upstanding inner wall and a second upstanding outer wall extending from the second annular base, the second upstanding inner wall having a second top bevelled face, and the second upstanding outer wall having a second annular shoulder formed at the inner, upper side of the second upstanding outer wall; a first annular cover attached to the top of the first upstanding inner and outer walls, and having a first inner annular member inclining upward and abutting with the first bevelled face, the first inner annular member having at one side opposite to the first bevelled face a plurality of inclined grooves distributed annularly therein to confine first gas outlets, the first annular cover further having a first downwardly extending annular projection to engage with the first annular shoulder; and a second annular cover attached to the second upstanding inner and outer walls, and having a second inner annular member inclining upward and abutting with the second top bevelled face, the second inner annular member having at one side opposite to the second bevelled face a plurality of inclined grooves distributed annularly therein to confine second gas outlets; the second annular cover further having a second downwardly extending annular projection to engage with the second annular shoulder.
The present exemplary preferred embodiment will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is an exploded view of a gas burner incorporating the present invention; Figure 2 is an exploded view showing a first annular cover and a first annular housing; Figure 3 is a sectional view showing the first annular cover and annular housing of Fig.
2; and Figure 4 is a sectional view of the gas burner of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawings, a gas burner 1 according to the present invention is shown.
The gas burner 1 has a first annular housing 2 which includes a first annular base 21, a first upstanding inner wall 22 and a first upstanding outer wall 23 extending from the inner and outer peripheries the first annular base 21.
The first upstanding inner wall 23 has a first top bevelled face 24, and the first upstanding outer wall 23 has a first annular shoulder 25 formed at the inner, upper side thereof. A first gas inlet conduit 26 is connected to the first annular base 21 for supplying gas into the first annular housing 2. A first annular cover 27 is attached to the first upstanding inner and outer walls 22 and 23. The first annular cover 27 has a first inner annular flange 28 extending and inclining upward from the inner periphery of the first annular cover 27 and abutting with the first bevelled face 24 of the first inner upstanding wall 22. The first inner annular flange 28 has at one side opposite to the first bevelled face 24 a plurality of inclined grooves 29 distributed annularly therein to confine first gas outlets. The first annular cover 27 further has a first downwardly extending annular projection 30 to engage with the first annular shoulder 25 of the first upstanding outer wall 23.
A second annular housing 4 is disposed around the first annular housing 2, having a second annular base 41, a second upstanding inner wall 42 and a second upstanding outer wall 43 extending from the inner and outer peripheries of the second annular base 41.
The second upstanding inner wall 42 has a second top bevelled face 44, and the second upstanding outer wall 43 has a second annular shoulder 45 formed at the inner, upper side of the second upstanding outer wall 43. A second gas inlet conduit 46 which is of one-piece with or is connected integrally with the first gas inlet conduit 26 is connected to the second annular base 41, thereby also connecting the first and second annular housing 2 and 4.
A second annular cover 47 is attached to the second upstanding inner and outer walls 42 and 43, and has a second inner annular flange 48 extending from the inner periphery thereof and inclining upward. The second inner annuiar flange 48 abuts with the second top bevelied face 44 and has at one of its side opposite to the second bevelled face 44 a plurality of inclined grooves 49 distributed annularly therein to confine gas outlets. The second annular cover 47 further has a second annular projection 50 extending downwardly from a location slightly inward from the outer periphery of the second annular cover 47 to engage with the second annular shoulder 45.
In order to prevent the overflow liquid of a cooking pot from collecting on the burner, the first and second annular covers 27 and 47 are sianted slightly downward toward the outer peripheries thereof so as to allow the liquid to flow downward readily. On the second annular cover 47 are disposed annularly a plurality of nozzles 51 for the outlet of the gas in addition to gas outlet grooves 49.
It can be appreciated that the gas outlet grooves 29 and 49 so arranged can produce flame which is directed inward to the bottom of a cooking pot so that heat can be applied to the pot bottom effectively.
With the invention thus explained, it is apparent that various modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the invention. It is therefore intended that the invention be limited as indicated in the appended claims.
