Closed' solid-fuel stoves; casings; doors; grates, outlets to chimneys.-Slow combustion stoves are formed of a number of interchangeable superposed ring-like members of the same size, one or more of the members having a fuel-supply or ash-removal opening, and one an outlet opening for the combustion products; stoves of different capacities may thus be built by using an appropriate number of the members. The stove shown in Fig. 2 is composed of ring-like members 6, 19, 20, of which the top member 6 is provided with a fuel-supply opening 8 and a combustion product outlet, the intermediate members 19 are plain, and the members 20 are formed with openings 8. Each element is formed with a peripheral lip at the lower edge which engages the top of the element below, and the elements are retained in correct relation to one another bv inter-engaging projections 22 and recesses 23. The lowest element is carried bv a base member 1. The grate 24 rests on a frame 25 having projections 26 which engage slots 27 in each of the members 19. 20; the height of the grate may thus be adjusted. The doors 9 covering the openings 8 may be retained in the open position bv sliding them on their pivot pins 10 to cause them to engage a projection 29 on one of the lugs 28. Detachable gratings 31 may be placed in the openings 8, being held in position by pins 32 engaging holes 33. The flue-pipe fitting 15 is supported by a screwed adjustable back-stay 17 to make the stove rigid under the weight of heavy flue-pipes. When the fire extends into the lowest element 20 a disc 34 is preferably provided to constitute a double bottom, to protect the floor from the heat. Fig. 4 shows a stove formed of two of the ring-like members, and in which a smoke-pipe fitting 13 is applied to the top of the upper member.
