Description

SPECIFICATION Electrician This invention relates to electric fans, and particularly a new type of electricfan being diversifiable for various usage changes, having an electric motor for head oscillation in an area other than behind a head part, an electric motor for head oscillation being fixed enabling to operate near a wall surface, and with a head oscillating device.
Figure 1 and Figure 2,for example, are an exploded perspective view and a sectional view at a cut line II - II showing a conventional electricfan publicly laid open undertheJapanese Utility Model No.52-103948.
In the drawings, the mark (a) indicates a support formed with a groove (b) to be fixed to a main body (not shown) comprised of blades an electric motor, guards and etc. in the upper part. The mark (c) indicates a switch box extended to one direction of the bottom line ofthe support (a) and the mark (d) indicates a base formed with a receptive groove (e) along the longitudinal line in the central area.
A conventional electric fan is constructed of as shown above, the switch box (c) being to be inserted to the receptive groove ofthe base (d) and the main body being fixed to the groove (b) of the support.
Usuallythere are various kinds in the electric fans such as for semi-floor type for Japanese room, desk settype and the height of support is different each dependent upon a purpose. Though there are some types of electric fans with the height adjustable for a kind of usage, their range of adjustments is limited in the extents and so it is known that each exclusive support (1 ) is necessary forthe use of semi-floortype or desk set type.
In an electric fan explained above, it has been a problem that we have to select an electric fan with a size of support specifically for a kind of purpose, such as fo r semi-floor type or desk set type, and diversion of one type for other type is not possible.
Furthermore, it has been another problem that it is not possible to reduce production cost of various parts by commonizing their sizes and increase production efficiency.
Avertical section view ofa head partofFigure3 shown in the Japanese Patent Laid Opened No.
57-34477 is known today.
In the drawing, (91) indicates a head part having a front cover (91 a) and a back cover (91 b), (92) indicates an electric motor for blades housed in the interior of the head cover (91 ), and blades (not shown) are connected to an axle (92a). (93) indicates an spindle fixed to the electric motor for blades (92), extended downward and received pivotally byway of a neckpiece (not shown), (94) indicates a plate fixed to the back portion ofthe electric motor for blades (92) and the back cover (91 b), (95) indicates an electric motorfor head oscillation fixed to the plate (94) and an axle (95a) protrudes downward from it.
(96) indicates a crank fixed to the axle (95a) and (97) indicates an head oscillation rod rotatably held by the crank (96).
As a conventional electric fan is constructed as above, an electric motor for head oscilation is arranged behind an electric motorfor blades and the known head oscillation device is made up of such construction as the rotational movement is transmitted to the axle (95a), the crank (96) and the head oscillation rod (97).
Consequently, in a conventional electric fan, due to the arrangement of an electric motor for heas oscillation behind an electric motor for blades, the shape of the head part ofthe electric fan protrudes backward, which requires larger packing form, also.
It makes difficultto operate it near a wall surface also. Another inconvenience such as requiring a larger space has been a problem, also.
This invention is made to solve above problems and a first object of thins invention is to provide an electric fan improved and capable of using one type for semi-floor, desk set, and floortype purpose, and enable to increase production efficiency by commonizing various parts.
This invention is made to solve above problems and a second object of this invention is to provide an electric fan without a head part protruding backward, with a small packing size, usable near a wall surface, and could be stored in a small space.
The electric fan ofthis invention, basically comprises a main body having blades, electric motors and guards, a base connected detachably to the main body arranged downward ofthis main body, and a support connected detachably to the main body and the base.
Accordingly in this invention, because of being connected detachably directly or indirectly to the main bodyandthebase, thewholeheightofthe electric fan could be lowered by directly connecting the main body and the base, while connecting both via this support makes a higher height.
Furthermore, the electricfan of this invention is a typethatan electric motor for head oscillation is provided in an area otherthan behind the back part of an electric motor for blades, a L-shaped support with head oscillation by an electric motor for head oscillation is provided, a lower member of the fan supports the lower part of the support and the support supports the electric motor for blades in the upper part.
Consequently according to this invention, no such a casethata head partwould protrude backward due to a provision ofthe electric motor for head oscillation in an area behind the electric motorfor blades.
Furthermore, said head oscillating device described in this invention supports a head part having an electric motorfor blades in the upper area of a L-shaped support, the lower part of the support being fixed rotatablyto a lower member, in the lower part ofthe support, an electric motorfor head oscillation being provided, to the support, head oscillation movement being transmitted to.
Accordingly, due to construction of an electric motor for head oscillation provided in the lower part ofthe support supporting the head part, the head part does not protrude backward.
In the following explanation on embodiments of this invnetion will be madetogetherwith the accompanying drawings.

In an electric fan constructed above, on electricity being applied to the electric motor for blades (5),the electric fan start rotating the blades (4) and sending airthroughthefrontguard (1).
On the other hand on electricity being applied to the electric motor for head oscillation, the crank (50) rotates and the rod (51) makes reciprocating movement, and this movement is transmitted to the arm (55). Thus, the arm (55) makes titubation movement at the center of the axis, and makes the spindle (45) connected to the arm (55) by way ofthe clutch (56) and the support (35) bywayofthe neckpiece (9) titubate. The head part (6) oscillates thisway. Furthermore, when the main body (18) is horizontally moved, since the ball (68) rolls on the uneven surface (64c) of the tube holder (64) and stops at the place desired, oscillation movement starts at this point making so-called duplicate head oscillation.Furthermore, when the head part (6) is tilted forward or backward, the neckpiece (9) could be held at any desired position by the appropriate recovering forces of the twisted spring and the depression and elevation angle adjustment plate and the function of the pressing spring and balls.
Though the above is a construction of semi-floor type, this could be used for desk set type by taking the main body (18) offthe tube (20), and connecting the main body (18) to the base (23) directly. The attaching and detaching process ofthistube (20) is explained in the following.
Firstofall, as shown by a straight line in Figure 10, after a fixing plate (71) being placed apart from the inside wall ofthetube (20), the lower end ofthetube holder (64) held to the main body(18) bythegroove (64d) and the screw (66) matching is to be inserted to the upper portion ofthetube (20). As the screw (21) is rotated, the fixing plate (71) moves to the right side being guided by the guide piece and the end ofthe fixing plate (71) fits to the hole (64e) ofthe tube holder (64) as shown buy a broken line. This way, by the tube holder (64) being fixed to the tube (20), upward coming offoftheelectricfanwill bestopped.
The handling procedurefortaking offthe main body will be in the reverse manner. Aftertaking offthe tube (20), by inserting the tube holderto the holeof the base directly and screwing thetubefixing screw to the female thread (64b) of the tube holder (64), we could use the electric fan for desk set type as shown in Figure 8 and Figure 9.
Furthermore, the cord (26) could be taken outside ofthetubeholder(64)throughthesupport(19)and the base (23).
On the other hand, packing of the disassembled parts before assembly is done as shown in Figure 15 - Figure 17. That is, the main body (18), the support (19) and the base (23) separated from a whole unit will be stored in the inside of an outer case (81) together with packing materials.
This time it is possible to use a smaller outer case (81) by packing them closely since the shape ofthe main body is different from a conventional shape and not part is protruding backward from the head part (6).
In addition to the example that one product could be used for two type purposes such as semi-floor type and desk set type by the use or not use ofthe support (19), the product could be further used for floortype purpose and for othervarious usages.
Next, Figure 18 - Figure 20 indicate another embodiment provided with another type of head oscillating device that is of an electric motor for head oscillation (47a) provided in the inside of a support (35a), not in the inside of a control box (13),and Figure 18 is a side section view, Figure 19 is a back view, and Figure 20 is an exploded perspective view.
The upper part of a support (35a) is fastened to a rear guard (3) by a screw (76) and in the lowerparta spindle (45a) extending to the lower part is fixed to a screw (77) prevents the support (35a) from coming off. The neckpiece (9a) is inserted to a cut (79) ofthe upper part of a base (78) and held rotatably by a pin (80). (81) indicates a screw to select a position for a depression and elevation angle ofthe neckpiece (9) by pressing the inserted part ofthe neckpiece (9) inserted to the base (78). An electric motor for head oscillation (47) is fixed in the interior of a support (35a) and one of the ends of a crank is fixed to the axle. The other end of the crank (50a) is connected rotatably to one of the edges of a rod (51 a) by a screw (83) and an E-shaped ring inserted into the edge. The other end of the rod (51 a) is connected rotatably to an arm (86) projecting sideway from the neckpiece by a screw (85). A head oscillating device comprising an electric motor for head oscillation (47a), a crank (50a), a rod (51 a) and etc. is stored in the inside of a support (35c) and in the backward of the support (35c) a rear cover (89) is fastened by a screw (90) and in the front part, a front cover (89b) covers the front area.
In otherwords, the head oscillating device is almost same as the previous embodiment, that the crank(50a) rotates by the rotating of an electric motor for head oscillation (47a), and by the reciprocating movement ofthe rod (51 a) the support (35a) makes oscillating movement at the center of the spindle (45a). Thus it is possible to have a function same as the previous embodiment.
As explained above, this invention has such advantages that the type of the electric fan could be used forthe different purposes, that is, semi-floor type, desk set type, floor type and etc. due to a construction that comprises a main body having blades, an electric motorfor blades, and a guard, a base provided downward connected detachably to the main body, effecting that higher production efficiency could be realized by commonizing the parts and sizes of packing cases could be smaller.
As explained above, this invention has another advantages that a construction that an electric motor for head oscillation is provided in an area otherthan the one behind an electric motor for blades and a L-shaped support oscillating by the electric motor for head oscillation is provided, having the lower part of this support supported by a lower member and supporting an electric motor for blades in the upper area, eliminates a head part protruding backward, makes the size of package form smaller, enables its operation near a wall surface, and enables its storage in a smallerspace.
As explained above, this invention has another advantage that a construction that a L-shaped supportsupporting in the upper area a head part having an electric motor for blades, the lower part of the support being held rotatably by a lower member, an electric motor for head oscillation being provided in the lower area of this support, head oscillation being transmitted to the support, eliminates a head part protruding backward, makes the size of package forms smaller, enables its operation near a wall surface, and enables its storage in a small space.
