Abstract

In an extraction system used to extract foul air enclosed within a toilet bowl during use, the foul air is expelled by means of a fan to outside atmosphere or into the sewer system. Alternatively, the foul air may be filtered or purified before returning into the room atmosphere. The system can operate automatically or manually. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Toilet bowl fowl air extraction system This invention relates to a system for extracting fowl air from a toilet bowl, during use and immediately afterwards.
The system extracts the volume of fowl air enclosed within the toilet bowl, during use, before the room atmosphere is contaminated.
Everyone has experienced the unpleasant odour which linters in a bathroom or toilet for a considerable period of time after the toilet has been used. This is unpleasant for the next person using the toilet. Opening a window or operating a room extractor fan takes a considerable time to remove this stale air, with the result that heat is lost from the room and there is a burglar risk due to the window having been left open.
This invention embodies a means of air intake around the toilet bowl top. The air is ducted to an extractor fan and then expelled to outside atmosphere, directly, or via a waste pipe, or it may be filtered or purified before recycling.
The fan is operated automatically by a seat pressure switch, photo electric cell, touch sensor or other means. Alternatively the fan can be operated manually by a bathroom type pull switch or other.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows in perspective, the invention embodying a toilet seat with built-in air intake vents.
Figure 2 shows as an alternative the bowl casting with built-in air intake vents, around the rim, above the flush ring.
The fan location with intake and outlet ducts can also be incorporated as integral parts of the bowl casting.
Figure 3 shows an air intake moulding which can be located beneath an existing toilet seat.
Referring to the drawing, Fig. 1 shows the invention with toilet seat 1 incorporating the air intake as an integral part. The air is extracted by fan 3 via swivel coupling 2 and duct 4. The air is then expelled via non-return valve 6 and outlet duct 5 to toilet sewer outlet.
The fan 3 is operated automatically by touch sensor switch 7 when someone sits on the toilet seat 1.
1. A toilet bowl fowl air extraction system embodying a means of air intake around the toilet bowl top. The air is ducted to an extractor fan and then expelled via a non-return valve to outside atmosphere directly or via waste pipe, or it may be filtered or purified before recycling.
2. A toilet bowl fowl air extraction system as claimed in claim 1 wherein the means of air intake is an integral part of the toilet seat.
3. A toilet bowl fowl air extraction system as claimed in claim 1 where in in the means of air intake, and or fan intake, fan outlet ducts, and or fan location are integral parts of the toilet bowl casting as in Fig. 2.
4. A toilet bowl fowl air extraction system as claimed in claim 1 wherein the means of air intake is a plastic or other moulding or form, which can be located beneath the toilet seat, on or attached to the top of the toilet bowl, or attached to the toilet seat or toilet seat pivot.
5. A toilet bowl fowl air extraction system as claimed in claim 4 wherein the air intake moulding or form is ring shaped as in Fig. 3 or part thereof.
6. A toilet bowl fowl air extraction system substantially described herein with reference to Figs. 1-3 of the accompanying drawing.
