Abstract

A square-shaped plastics dustbin incorporates a handle along the top of one of its sides and underneath (on the same side as the handle) two wheels on which the dustbin can be wheeled when tilted slightly, while two legs on the opposite side make it stable when unattended. A larger version has the alternative feature of two sets of three wheels rotating on a single axis enabling the dustbin to be wheeled upstairs and downstairs. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Light weight mobile dustbin This invention relates to a plastic dustbin mounted on wheels.
Dustbins, made of plastic or metal, are normally kept just outside houses or blocks of flats, or in outhouses, and are taken out when full to await rubbish collection bydustmen.
Theyareeithercylindrical orslightlyconical in shape, thustaking a fair mount of space relativeto what they can hold, and have to be carried by householders, a taskwhich is always difficult and can be hazardous for backache sufferers or elderly people.
The present invention which can be made of moulded plastic, offers an alternative system.
It is square topped and slightly pyramidal in shape - which proves space-saving, and incorporates wheels to eliminate the need for any lifting.
Figure 1 shows the perspective, with the two legs on which the container rests when vertical and stati onary, thewheelswhich give it mobilitywhen slightlytitled and pulled bythe handle also shown.
Figure2 shows a vertical elevation ofthe same.
Figure 3 shows the second version of the dustbin in perspective.
It is identical in shape to the above version, albeit likely to be larger in size, still with the two legs on which it can rests, and the handle, also identical as thatshownin Figure 1, butthere is a threewheel combination here which allows itto be safely and easily wheeled over single or multiple steps (e.g. a staircase). The circumference of each of the wheels being here dictated by the usual approximate size of steps in houses.
1. A lig htweig ht dustbin, com prisi ng a square topped and square bottomed container (a) incorporating a handle (b), two wheels (c1 and c2) and two legs (d1 and d2) all combining to provide mobility without the necessity of lifting the dustbin at any time.
2. A dustbin, identical in shape as described in Claim 1, but larger, and having, instead of the two wheels (c1 and c2) as above, two sets ofthree wheels each (el and e2) rotating on a common axis, adapting itto going up and down individual steps orflightof stairs, 3. A separate square lid (f) is provided for both types of dustbins.
