Abstract

217,799. Davis, W. C. Aug. 20, 1923. Gas cooking.stoves; heat distributors. - A broiling and toasting appliance comprises a body formed of three interfitting sections 6, 7, 8, the upper of which is provided with a flange 9 supporting a broiler frame 10 having at the front a trough 12 for fat. A broiling-grid 13 is detachably supported on inclined flanges 14 in the frame 10, the flanges 14 being grooved to convey fat to the trough 12. The grid 13 is corrugated, slots being formed in the upper portions of the corrugations for the passage of heat: transverse ribs 19 on the underside of the grid arrest fat which passes through these slots. The intermediate section 7 of the body supports a pair of detachable superimposed corrugated heat-radiating plates 21, 22, which may be arranged either as shoyn in Fig. 4 or in Fig. 5. They are provided with slots 24 for the passage of heated gases, and with projections 25 serving as drip-points for any fat which passes through the slots. A similar plate 30 is arranged beneath the burner 29, and radiates heat on to a toasting- grid 32. A water-tank 35 is provided beneath the grid 32, and serves to improve the quality of the toasted food and to supply hot water for culinary purposes. The upper section 6 of the stove is provided with a flue 39 controlled by a damper 40.
