Abstract

A cord horse, eg a sawing bench, has three portable frames 10 and a securing chain 11 and spring 12. These are for safe use with a chain saw, whilst cutting logs. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Portable cord horse This invention relates to a portable sawing horse for use with a chain saw and will be known as a 'Cord Horse'. Cord is a measure of cut wood, 128 cubic feet, but this will not have any reference to the volume of timber to be, or being cut.
Other sawing horses when used with a hand saw have the timber that is being cut held by one hand while the other operates the saw. When using a chain saw both hands are needed to hold the saw, the wood is not held securely and this is dangerous. Thus the cord horse came into existence.
According to the present invention, the cord horse holds wood securely, allows for different lengths and thickness of wood no matter what type of timber is cut. This is achieved by the use of a chain and spring positioned over the wood, which is stacked in the frame. The chain is then pulled tight over the wood and secured both sides of a frame.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows in perspective cord wood in position on the bed of the cord horse; Figure 2 illustrates the tension of chain and spring over cord wood clamped in frame.
Referring to the drawing Figure 1, the three frames 10 of the cord horse should be placed into firm ground up to level A Figure 1 upright and equal distances apart.
Lengths of wood 9 placed into cradle bed 13 and clamped with chains 11 and springs 12.
The wood 9 is now cut into required length.
Sawing can take place either end or between with a chain saw. Logs are removed from areas around any of the frames 10, the cord horse can then be reloaded with wood 9.
1. A portable cord horse comprises a minimum of three frames, each of the same measurements and each including a spring and chain that secures the material.
2. A portable cord horse as claimed in Claim 1 where the frame is provided with at least one spring.
3. A portable cord horse as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 is provided with at least one chain.
4. A portable cord horse substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1 - 2 of the accompanying drawing.
