Description

SPECIFICATION Two handled infant carrier This invention relates to a Two Handled Infant Carrier.
Baby Infant Carriers are at present set into two catagories: Wheeled Carriers with rigid frames or Material Carriers with body straps and/or carry handles. The Wheeled Carriers, ie: Prams and Pushchairs, can be either rigid framed or of a foldaway construction which can make then cumbersome in certain circumstances. Material (or fabric) Carriers are at present only made for young infants from birth up to the age of six months approximately. They are usually made into a pouch, with a stiffened back, and straps to hold the baby to the front or back of the parents body safely.
According to the present invention there is a carrier provided, suitable for babies from six months to approximately two years of age. The infant is carried in comfort between two adults without the restrictions of negotiating slight obstacles ie: stairs and uneven walkways.
This invention comprises a flat seat (1), with strengthening and padding (6), which is enclosed by a one piece back/side panel (2) (with seat back stiffening (5)), a frontice piece (3) with dowel strengthening/safety bar) and a carrying strap (4) on each side, sewn to the frontice piece and side panel.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a perspective view of the carrier with leg holes and handles.
Figure 2 shows a front view and side view of the carrier with a schematic outline of the infant in position.
Figure 3 shows a perspective view of the carrier with an infant in the seat and being held by both straps by two adults.
Referring to the drawing, the Infant Carrier comprises a flat seat (1), with padding and strengthening (6), a stiffened back (2) stiffened with two pieces of board (5). The back is shaped so that it too forms the sides which in turn are attached to the frontice piece (3) that has a dowel strengthening at the top for safety. The frontice piece (3) is also sewn to the front edge of the seat leaving provision for the infants legs to protrude. There are two carry straps (4), one either side. Each one is sewn to the frontice piece (3) and makes an arc over the infants shoulder and is sewn to the same side in a position to make the centre of gravity correct.
The infant is put into the carrier feet first from the top and the legs slide through the leg holes in the frontice piece, one leg in each hole. To take the infant from the carrier is reversal of this procedure.
CLAIM
An Infant Carrier comprising an enclosed seat (1) with a carry strap (4) on either side is able to transport an infant (from six months to approximately two years of age) in comfort, from one location to another, held by two adults, without the restriction of negotiating stairs and uneven walkways by having wheels.
