Abstract

216,712. Potter, S. June 27, 1923. Rearing-appliances.-A hover for rearing poultry comprises a guarded lamp 7 above which is mounted a heat-deflecting plate 8 so supported that it operates irrespective of small inclinations of the surface upon which the hover rests. The plate 8 is attached to a pendulous rcd 18 that carries a cruciform member 20 and is secured by a cotter 19 to a cover 12 at the centre of a conical roof 1. The cover 12 has apertures 13 and can be turned relatively to apertures 14 in the chimney 9 to regulate the escape of air from the hover. The roof 1 is supported on legs 2 and carries a curtain 4, and can be lifted by means of a handle 22, a rope 24, and a pulley. Inspection windows 27 may be provided.
