Abstract
A buoyant support or platform 2 with a built in transparent viewing panel 3 to enable a person to view the underwater scenery while being supported on top of the device. The buoyant support or platform may be built completely of a buoyant transparent material. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
Buoyant underwater viewing device
This invention relates to a method of viewing underwater scenery from a "Buoyant Support or Platform" hereafter known as the device, from the surface of the water.
The wearing of a transparent face-mask and the breathing through a snorkel tube while swimming, particularly in temperate waters, is a very popular and rewarding activity. A different world can be seen with excellent clarity.
Unfortunately not everyone is a strong enough swimmer to have the confidence to venture very far and not everyone can cope with the wearing of a face-mask and the different breathing method needed to use a snorkel tube.
This invention is to provide not only additional buoyancy for the swimmer but also a method of being able to observe the underwater scenery without the use of alternative breathing apparatus or the need to wear a face-mask.
According to the present invention there is provided a Device for a person to be supported on water and be able to view the underwater scenery by the means of a transparent panel built into the device.
The present invention also provides for that device to be constructed completely of a buoyant transparent material to obtain the same effect.
The present invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which
Figure 1 Shows a cross-sectional view of the device having a transparent panel built into both the top and bottom surfaces of the device
Figure 2 Shows a plan view of the device.
Figure 3 Shows a plan view of a completely transparent device.
Referring to the drawing the device consists of a solid buoyant material 2 with a transparent material 1 built into it both on the top and bottom surfaces. There is an air-gap 3 between the two panels 1 but this gap could be of solid transparent material.
The device could be of any shape or size and could be constructed of any buoyant material.
Referring to Figure 3 the material 4 is a buoyant transparent material.
1. A buoyant support or platform with a transparent viewing panel built into it.
2. A buoyant support or platform as in claim 1, built of any buoyant material or buoyant contruction.
3. A buoyant support or platform as in claim 1, and claim 2, built to any shape or size.
4. A buoyant support or platform as in claim 1, claim 2, and claim 3 with the transparent viewing panel having an air-gap between the panels.
5. A buoyant support or platform as in claim 1, claim 2 and claim 3 with transparent viewing part being made of a solid piece of transparent material.
6. A buoyant support or platform constructed completely of a buoyant transparent material.
7. A buoyant support or platform as in claim 6 built of any material.
8. A buoyant support or platform as in claim 6 and claim 7 built to any shape or size.
