Abstract
Persulphuric acid or solution of its salts are heated directly by means of an alternating current in order to obtain hydrogen peroxide. The current density should be below 1 ampere per square centimetre. The number of alterations per second can be as low as 50 with carbon electrodes but the frequency must be higher when platinum electrodes are employed. It is desirable to treat the carbon electrodes, before use, with persulphuric acid.
