Abstract

This apparatus allows a person to go underwater and breathe to carry out a task or for pleasure without the requirement of SCUBA equipment. Its simplicity allows anyone to swim underwater in shallow water and a manual pump A allows air to fill a flexible reservoir V which supplies the air along a hose to a mouthpiece E which gives air 'on demand' to the user. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Shallow Water Breathing Apparatus This invention refers to Shallow Water Breathing Apparatus.
Swimming underwater or breathing underwater requires specialist equipment which requires special training and knowledge whether it is to be used just underwater or very deep. It also requires an ancillary charging unit and power electric, diesel or petrol is expensive to buy - and fairly bulky.
Shallow Water Breating Apparatus (SBA) allows a person to go underwater by means of a manual pump a flexible pressure housing a hose and a mouthpiece.
The depth is limited by the pump and the safe working pressure of the flexible volume tank.
Figure (A) The apparatus requires a surface operator to pump air by means of the pump A.
Figure (B) The pump has a pressure gauge. The operator makes sure that the flexible volume tank is kept full at all times.
Figure (C) A safety valve ensures the pressure tank cannot become overpressured.
Figure (E) A hose supplies the mouthpiece which is fitted with a one-way valve which prevents back-suction should the hose or volume tank fail. The mouthpiece (E) supplies the diver with air 'on demand'.
The mouthpiece (E) has a variable valve.
Figure (F) Filled to allow the diver to alter the flow of air as required.
SBA has been designed to allow a person to breath underwater without the use of Scuba Equipment or Surface Demand Diving Equipment.
No engine is required to supply the diver with air i.e., non-mechanical.
1. Shallow water breathing apparatus allows a person to go underwater by means of a pump and flexible volume tank. A hose and mouthpiece.
2. Shallow water breathing apparatus is claimed in (1) allows air to be kept under pressure in a flexible reservoir-allowing the apparatus to be stowed away.
3. SBA as in claim (2) allows excess pressure to be dumped from the reservoir to prevent overpressuring the reservoir.
4. SBA as claimed allows air to be breathed 'on demand' and the flow adjusted as required.
5. SBA substantially as described herein with reference to the enclosed drawings
