Description

SPECIFICATION Board game This invention relates to a board game.
Board games are familar recreational items in most households and are usually based on a theme. They comprise a board upon which is printed the fundamental design of the overall game, using pattern and character, creating the essential theme of the game. The design on the board also dictates what actions the game's players have to take during the game and what route they have to follow. A board game further comprises various cards relating to the theme of the game place markers and a dice. These all combine with the essential themed design of the board to dictate the flow of the game and eventually who will win.
Board games are relatively inexpensive and very varied as regards the themes upon which they are based.
According to the present invention there is provided a theme board game, for 2-4 players, the essential basis of which is the Royal Families theme contained in the four families of flags on the board itself-one flag for each Prince, Queen, King, Crown of each Royal Family. The board game comprises a folding board upon which is printed the aforementioned Royal Families theme design; sixteen theme design cards each of which, at various times during the game (as regards the rules of the game), is placed face-up on the appropriate flag of the appropriate Royal Family on the board, which is identical in size, colour and design to the particular card; a further sixteen numbered cards-four each of the numbers 2, 3, 5, 7-which the players of the game collect and employ (as regards the rules of the game); two further cards called Jesters which can be used by one player to delay the progress of another player; fifty black plastic discs and fifty red plastic discs which serve as units of currency when the game is in progress, four place markers to indicate each player's position on the board and a dice which is used to dictate how many places forward around the board each player is to move his place marker.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows the board game as it appears when folded out flat, without any cards or place-markers placed upon it.
Referring to the drawing the board game comprises a board 1 upon which cards are placed on each of the four flags 2, 3, 4, 5 which represent the Royal Families theme.
Twelve of these cards, four of each printed with the title Prince, Queen, King are positioned at 6 during the game.
The numbered cards plus four cards printed with the title of Crown are positioned at 7 during the game. The two cards printed with the title of Jester are positioned at 8 during the game.
At the beginning of the game the four place-markers are placed on the Start square 9. These place-markers are moved around the board in a clock-wise direction during the game.
The pattern of discs 10 and 21 award one unit of currency to any player landing on them.
In order for a player to obtain cards from 6 when the game is in progress he must get to the Centre square 11 via either of the Thoroughfare entrances 12, 1 3.
In order for a player to obtain cards from 6 when the game is in progress he must get to the Centre square 11 via the Golden Gate 1 4.
There is a means of leaping over a given number of squares in the game according to the number thrown on the dice. This occurs from the four TRIP squares 1 5, 16, 17, 18 positioned around the board.
Furthermore, there is a means of buying cards for a free in the game which is achieved by players utilising the high squares 1 9 and low squares 20.
