Abstract

215,642. Frisk, F. Aug. 21, 1923. Luggage and like holders; receptacles, detachably securing to running-boards.-A device for securing golf-bags or other articles of luggage to the running-board of a motor vehicle comprises a base-member 1, Fig. 1, adapted to be clamped to the running-board 2, and a number of supporting arms 4, 5, 6, 7, which are foldable in different planes, preferably laterally and longitudinally, and carrying straps 9. 10 embracing the golf-bag or like article 13. The arms 4, 5, which are preferably longer than the arms 6, 7, are connected by a rod 19, Fig. 5, adapted, when the arms 4, 5 are vertical, to be moved transversely into engagement with a keeper 22 so as to maintain these arms upright, and to be locked by the engagement of a spring-pressed detent 20 in a notch 20' in the rod 19. At the lower ends of the short arms 6, 7 horizontal extensions 23, Fig. 6, are movable in longitudinal sockets 24 in the base 1, thereby allowing these arms to be engaged in slots 25 for retaining the arms in a vertical position. The clamping-screw 31, Fig. 3, of the clamp 30 is provided with a vertical groove 38 engageable by a sliding bolt 36, which is operated by the mechanism of a lock 34, such arrangement protecting the luggage-carrier from theft.
