Abstract
The invention has to do with prevention of Copyright Software theft, tape. The Copyright Software material is stored (or tracked) in longtitudinally continuous mode, and 'staggered' across the tape width in random and/or patterned order. Additional tape track(s) may be available for casual own use, none of the Copyright Software tracks usually being any of those tracks now commonly used by tape-recorders and/or tape-recorder tapes. Multiheads are arranged and/or interconnected that any attempt unlawfully to record the Copyright Software material will result in the erasure of that material.
Description
SPECIFICATION
An anti-copying device
The invention is an anti-copying device, i.e., an invention against the illegal copying of or the illegal duplication of whatsoever pre-recorded information and/or game and/or music (the copyright of which belongs to another, and, hereinafter called 'copyright material') stored on or stored by tape such as that used by or in tape-recorders and the like, whilst freely permitting the legal copying or the legal duplication of one's own tape-recorded material (hereinafter called 'own material'.)
To such end the invention concerns itself with the tape-recorder taped information (and/or game and/or music) retrieval or 'play head' the 'record head' the 'erase head', and, with the pattern or patterns in which the copyright material is stored on or by the tape, and all, as is to be found in that now generally known as a tape-recorder and of or in any other such device of the same or similar purpose (hereinafter called 'tape-recorder'.)
Presently, hitherto, the general state of the art is such that copyright material is prerecorded on or by a 'tape-track' (hereinafter called 'track') in a longitudinally continuous mode. Hence, both the pre-recording upon the tape and the retrieval of the so stored on the tape is brought about by by a single 'head' or single 'heads' which thus a), permits illegal duplication of copyright material through the memory-banks of a computer and/or b), permits illegal copying of copyright material by way of interconnexion between two or more tape-recorders.
From which it follows that if one could cause computer memory-banks not to store pre-recorded copyright material or not to store the whole of the pre-recorded copyright material (whilst permitting legal storage), and, if one could arrange (where two or more taperecorders be connected for such illegal purpose) that the quantity of copyright material supplied by the first tape-recorder to the second or other tape-recorders be non-existent or here significantly deficient, then, the illegal copying or duplication of copyright material could/would not take place.
All of this easily can be arranged by (and the essence of this invention is) 'staggering' the copyright material (at e.m.f. mains-frequency or not, in random or in patterned order yet in longitudinal continuance) across a plurality (two or more) of tape-tracks, and, by providing a suitably arranged (matched) and circuited bank or banks or multihead or multiheads of taped information retrievers recorders and erasers.
Enlarging upon the hereforegoing and according to this invention: Set together or not, on the pre-recorded tape, are to be a plurality of tape-recorded tracks (as hereabove set forth) by way of which the copyright material is to be stored fragmented across the tracks yet in longitudinal continuance. Conveniently here, say, stored thus fragmented across three tracks.
That a tape-recorder or that tape-recorders cannot illegally be used to record or to duplicate copyright material, none of the copyright material tracks (here, three tracks) are to be in the now usual track-position or positions upon or along the copyright material tape. That is to say that by this means none of the now usual tape-recorder 'play' or 'record' heads can be brought into such position as to be able to cause the copyright material either to play or to be recorded.
Whilst: set together or not, integral in part or parts or not, is/are to be provided a bank or banks or a multihead or multiheads of taped information retrievers and/or taped information recorders and/or taped information erasers. In the case of the here conveniently set forth three-track pre-recorded copyright material, as here follows:
I). The retrieval or the 'play' heads will be four in number, that is, three play heads to retrieve the pre-recorded copyright material (which may not legally be copied), and, one play head to play or to retrieve one's own material (which may legally be copied.
The three play heads which retrieve the copyright material will be connected (via computer) to the television-set screen (or to any other such screen for such purpose, hereinafter called 'T.V. screen'), as separately, also will be connected the fourth own material head. In no case will these three copyright material heads here significantly be connected to any part or parts of the computer memorybanks, nor here significantly will any of these three copyright material heads be connected to the fourth own material play or record head or heads.
The effect of this retrieval or play bank of heads or multihead will be that when the retrieval or play switch is put to its 'on' position:
a). The copyright material will flow against its own retrievers or heads and so will be forwarded on to the T.V. screen.
b). Since the now usual tape-recorder head cannot retrieve or play the copyright material, the copyright material cannot be copied or duplicated via a tape recorder or tape recorders.
c). The tape recorder yet may retrieve and play one's own recorded material via its own tape-track.
d). Whilst as part of this provisional specification yet one of the copyright material heads may be found to be the one's own material retriever or play head, it then being the case as is here conveniently set forth that only one/third or a part of one/third of the copy right material thus could be duplicated.
2). Conveniently here taking the new tape
'erase' arrangements to be the next in line of running tape-flow (the relative positions of tape-recorder heads here being a matter of mere design):
a). The 'erase' tape-recorder head may or may not be found to be in banked or multihead form. Where the erase head is found to be in multihead form that form or the part thereof will be found to be in the same order as the order or the part order of the hereabove set forth arrangement of the multihead retriever or play-head.
b). For reasons yet to be made clear, by the use of the 'erase' activation switch, only the own material head will be activated so as to erase the own material thereby concerned.
3). Also conveniently here taking the 'record' arrangements to be next in line of the running tape-flow:
a). The 'record' tape-recorder head may or may not be found to be in the banked or the multihead form. Where the erase head is found to be in the multihead form that form or the part thereof will be found to be in the same order or the part order of the hereabove set forth arrangement of the multihead retriever or play head, also.
b). Internally or externally or part internally and part externally arranged (and still here in the conveniently set forth three-track copyright material case) the activating 'record' switch will be found to activate both the own material and the copyright material recorder heads.
c). Please see 2 b). Where this invention so is arranged the copyright material recorder heads (output reinforced if necessary) will be connected ('back') (or fed back to and so activate) the copyright material erase heads.
Hence by this means, and whilst quite easily one may record one's own material, any attempt illegally to record or to duplicate the copyright material will result in a complete or a part erasure (from the tape of the copyright material.)
Claims (5)
1. Tape-Recorder tape such that whilst
Copyright Software is recorded or tracked in longitudinal continuation thereon or thereby the Copyright Software material is in any way recorded 'staggered' across the width of the recorded tape, and, multiheads for the retrieval (that is as is Play and/or Record and/or Erase) of the so-recorded 'staggered'
Copyright Software material.
2. So-recorded tape as claimed in Claim I on which the Copyright Software material is
'staggered' at e.m.f. mains-frequency or not that is recorded upon or recorded by the tape via any frequency or any combination of frequencies electro and/or electro-magnetic.
3. Multiheads as claimed in Claim I which will retrieve (that is as is Play and/or Record and/or Erase) Copyright Software material which is 'staggered' across the width of the so-recorded tape via any frequency or any combination of frequencies as set forth in
Claim 2.
4. Multiheads as claimed hereabove which when suitably electrically and/or mechanically arranged will cause Copyright Software material to be stored upon or by such recordingtape and at or via any frequency or any combination of frequencies as set forth in
Claims 2 and 3.
5. Multiheads as claimed hereabove by the electro and/or electro-magnetic and/or mechanical arrangement of which any attempt or attempts unlawfully to record Copyright
Software material (from legally purchased
Copyright Software recorded tape) will cause the whole or the part of that same Copyright
Software material to be erased from the legally purchased tape in such manner and at such time as to make such unlawful Copyright
Software copying impossible.
