Abstract
The latch clamp is especially intended for the closure of containers, etc.. It comprises a clamping lever (4) including an adjustable clamping bar (9) pivotally disposed thereon, which clamping lever is pivotally hinged to a support provided with a securing base (7). In order that such a clamping arrangement permit a clamping "at a right angle" and to clamp, for example, lids onto a container, the clamp is so formed that the hinge (1) of the clamping lever, the hinge (2) of the clamping bar and the handle attachment (3) of the clamping lever (4) are disposed in triangular relationship (5) on the clamping lever (4). The hinge (2) of the clamping bar, in this arrangement, is located above the linking straight line (6) between the handle attachment (3) and the clamping lever hinge (1). Hinge (1) of the clamping lever is seated on an articulated lug (8) protruding beyond the securing base (7) of the support. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
A latch clamp
The present invention is concerned with a latch clamp as set out in the preamble portion
of the claim.
Latch clamps of the above-mentioned type are known in the art. However, such conventional arrangements do not permit 90 clamping ("around the corner"), i.e. the clamping direction follows the plane of course of the base of the arrangement. If it is intended, for example, to perform closures of container lids, it will be imperative for these conventional clamps to be disposed laterally of the appertaining container, envolving, of course, correspondingly high space requirements; such conventional arrangements, generally cannot be used at all with, for example, flat lids.
Such containers can, for example, be of the foamed type in which the afore-mentioned lateral arrangement can by all means be hindering.
It is, therefore, the object of the present invention to so form and improve a latch clamp that also clamping and sealing problems, respectively, of the afore-described type can be overcome thereby without envolving any noteably high space requirements laterally of the container concerned.
This problem has been solved by a latch clamping arrangement of the afore-described type, as suggested by the invention, through the features recited in the characterising clause of the claim.
This new construction permits securing of the arrangement, for example, on the lid container, with the hinge of the clamping lever being so arranged that the clamping lever secured thereto is transverse of the face of the securing basem i.e. it permits seizing an arresting lug disposed laterally of the container wall without envolving any excessive space requirements.
The latch clamp will now be described in greater detail with reference to the drawing illustrating one form of embodiment, wherein
Figure 1 schematically shows a side view of the latch clamp, and
Figure 2 schematically shows a front view of the arrangement according to Fig. 1.
As disclosed by Fig. 1, the "clamping at a right angle" will merely require a different arrangement of the hinges 1,2 envolved; moreover, provision will have to be made that the hinge 1 of the clamping lever is seated on an articulated lug 8 protruding beyond the securing base 7 of the arrangement. The hinged arrangement differing from that of a flat clamping arrangement resides in that the hinge 1 of the clamping lever, the hinge hinge 2 of the clamping bar and the handle attachment 3 of the clamping lever 4 are disposed in triangular relationship 5 to the effect that the clamping bar hinge is disposed above the linking straight line 6 between the handle attachment 3 and the hinge 1 of the clamping lever.
The clamping bar is designated by reference numeral 9, which bar, in known manner, is seated in length-adjustable way at the ends 2' of the hinge pin of the hinge 2 of the clamping bar, and is pivotable along with the hinge pin.
The said bar 9, with an arresting element 10 secured in correspondinly spaced relationship to the side wall of the container (not shown), is hooked into the sealing position.
CLAIMS
A latch clamp, especially for the closure of containers, form tools etc., comprising a clamping lever hinged to a support provided with a securing base, with the clamping lever including an adjustable clamping bar slidably disposed thereon, characterised in that the hinge of the clamping lever, the hinge of the clamping bar and the handle attachment of the clamping lever are disposed in triangular relationship on the clamping lever, with the hinge of the clamping bar being disposed above the linking straight line between the handle attachment and the clamping lever hinge and the latter being located on an articulated lug protruding beyond the securing base of the support.
