Abstract

The apparatus comprises a board as shown having an outer track and an inner area representing a football pitch and illustrating two tracks each contained within a separate half of the pitch; playing tokens shaped to represent football players and footballs; a plurality of "player pieces" each illustrated to represent a football player, the value and status thereof, and a playing position; a plurality of trays each containing areas in which "player pieces" can be displayed to represent a football team; a plurality of instruction cards, and imitation money. The participants move the football player tokens along the outer track according to a dice throw and purchase "players" for playing positions indicated in the rectangular sections of the track, the status of a player to be purchased being determined by the dice count. When participants have established complete teams, matches are "played" and determined by the movement of the football tokens along the inner tracks of the board according to dice counts. The team whose "football" enters a goal first is the winner of a particular match. <IMAGE>

The number of player pieces available for a game will depend upon the number of participants as follows:2 Participants- 1 complete team of player pieces carrying no penalty points complete team of player pieces carrying 2 penalty points 2 complete teams of player pieces carrying 4 penalty points 3 Participants- 1 complete team of player pieces carrying no penalty points 2 complete teams of player pieces carrying 2 penalty points 3 complete teams of player pieces carrying 4 penalty points 4 Participants- 2 complete teams of player pieces carrying no penalty points 2 complete teams of player pieces carrying 2 penalty points 4 complete teams of player pieces carrying 4 penalty points 5 Participants- 2 complete teams of player pieces carrying no penalty points 3 complete teams of player pieces carrying 2 penalty points 5 complete teams of player pieces carrying 4 penalty points 6 Participants- 2 complete teams of player pieces carrying no penalty points 4 complete teams of player pieces carrying 2 penalty points 6 complete teams of player pieces carrying 4 penalty points.
A complete team of player pieces as referred to above and hereafter will consist of 11 player pieces which will collectively representthe 11 playing positions of a football team.
Each display tray will contain within its area 11 recessed positions which will accommodate a complete team of player pieces and a section which will be used to identify it with a particular football club. Figure 4 shows a display tray which includes a player piece in position (37) and which also shows the section (38) which will be used to identify the display tray with a particular football club.
Figure 6 shows an example of the money which will be used which will consist in total of the following: 12 pieces each piece representing a value of 1,000,000 12 pieces each piece representing a value of 500,000 36 pieces each piece representing a value of 100,000 24 pieces each piece representing a value of 50,000 The object of the game is for one participant to win a predetermined number of match points. As with league football 3 match points will be awarded to a participant whose team wins a match and 1 match point each will be awarded to the participants whose teams draw. Before the start of the game one participant shall be elected to be responsible for recording match points-the Referee; and one participant shall be elected to be responsible for the money and player pieces-The Treasurer.
At the start of the game the Treasurer will issue 2,000,000 to each of the participants. Each participant will have a display tray as shown in Figure 4 and a footballer as shown in Figure 7 which is moved round the outer track of the board according to the throw of a dice.
When a footballer lands on one of the 22 sections of the board which display numbers in their corners the participant concerned can purchase a player piece for the playing position indicated by that number in the following way:- If the dice throw which resulted in the footballer landing on the section referred to was 1, 2 or 3 the player piece purchased can only be one carrying 4 penalty points which will cost 50,000.
If the dice throw which resulted in the footballer landing on the section referred to was 4 or 5 the player piece purchased can be one carrying 2 penalty points which will cost 1 00,00.
If the dice throw which resulted in the footballer landing on the section referred to was 6 the player piece purchased can be one carrying 0 penalty points which will cost 200,000.
The player pieces purchased will be displayed in the display trays in their respective playing positions. In the event that a participant has two player pieces available for any one playing position the player piece carrying the lowest number of penalty points will be displayed in the display tray and the other player piece displayed next to the display tray.
A participant will not be allowed to have more than two player pieces for any one playing position.
A participant is allowed to buy or sell player pieces to or from other participants providing terms can be agreed between the participants involved.
The instructions contained in the sections of the outer track of the board will only apply to participants who have a complete team.
When a participant has a complete team and his or her footballer lands on one of the sections of the board that contain the word 'Match' that participant must challenge the participant on his or her left to a match which that participant must accept providing he or she has a complete team.
If the participant challenged does not possess a complete team the challenge passes to the participant on his or her left and so on until a match is made.
If the challenger is the only participant with a complete team he or she will receive 1 match point which he or she will record with the Referee and 150,000 which he or she will receive from the Treasurer.
When a match is made the two opposing participants each add up the total number of penalty points carried by the complete teams displayed in their respective display trays.
Each of the two participants then takes a football as shown in Figure 8 and places it on one of the two tracks contained within the football pitch situated in the centre of the board such that one football is placed on one track on the numbered section that corresponds with the total number of penalty points carried by the challenger's team and one football is placed on the other track on the numbered section that corresponds with the total number of penalty points carried by the opponent's team.
To win a match one of the participants must get his or her football into the goalmouth at the end of his or her track before the other participant. In order to achieve this both participants each throw a dice and move their respective footballs by the counts displayed thereon towards the goalmouths. The participant whose football enters a goalmouth after the least number of throws is the winner. If both footballs enterthe goalmouths after an equal number of throws the match is a draw.
After points have been awarded and recorded in accordance with the result each participant received 150,000 from the Treasurer and the play passes on.
When a participant has a complete team and his or her footballer lands on one of the sections of the board containing an instruction (as previously listed) that instruction must be obeyed in accordance with the rules of the game such that any purchase of player pieces that the participant may be entitled to is made after the instruction has been carried out.
If a participant lands on a 50/50 ball card section of the board that participant must, if he or she has a complete team, take a 50/50 ball card and comply with the instruction contained thereon.
50/50 ball cards which contain the instructions "Player joins your club on free transfer-select any player of your choice from the pool. Play as required'; 'Free match card' or 'Your team performs above expectations-decrease your team's penalty points total by 4. Play as required' may be kept and played at the holder's discretion.
In the case of instructions relating to the return of players to the pool whether directly or indirectly the procedure is as follows:- The participant concerned throws both dice and the total count signifies the position of the player piece to be returned. In the case of two 6's being thrown the player piece to be returned represents the playing position number 1.
In the case where a participant has two player pieces for the playing position signified by the total count of the dice the player piece carrying the lowest number of penalty points is the one that must be returned.
