Teaching arithmetic.-In a device for use in teaching arithmetic, of the type comprising a board A divided into a number of spaces D arranged in columns and lines, and adapted to receive a series of numbered blocks B in order to demonstrate the result of multiplying factors placed at the ends of the columns and lines, the blocks are so coloured on one side that when properly distributed they are arranged in columns each of a. distinctive colour, and are provided on the reverse side with the same series of numbers, arranged in different order and all of one colour, so that, when the reverse side is used, colour affords no guide to the placing of the blocks. The board may be in one piece and provided with a sliding cover, or may be hinged in the middle, and the spaces may be formed by superimposing a skeleton frame on the board or by fixing ribs across the board.
